0:15 - 0:17No, I am not enjoying the party.
-
0:17 - 0:18Behold poor souls!
-
0:18 - 0:20The fates turn backwards on themselves.
-
0:20 - 0:22There is danger looming ahead.
-
0:22 - 0:24I can see our bleak future.
-
0:24 - 0:26I am doomed to know
all of the catastrophes -
0:26 - 0:27that will befall us,
-
0:27 - 0:28yet no one believes me.
-
0:28 - 0:31Therefore, hark, Paris, Prince of Troy.
-
0:31 - 0:33All is twisted and sour -
-
0:33 - 0:36and I am not just talking
about the fruit punch. -
0:36 - 0:38Can you not see all of the signs?
-
0:38 - 0:40They are all around us,
even as we celebrate. -
0:40 - 0:41Look there,
-
0:41 - 0:44Hercules the strongest man
in the world, can break anything, -
0:44 - 0:46but he cannot break dance.
-
0:46 - 0:47And look here,
-
0:47 - 0:50Hades is the Lord of the Dead,
yet he is the life of the party. -
0:50 - 0:52Sisyphus refuses to rock and roll.
-
0:52 - 0:56Prometheus the Titan gave us
the gift of fire, but he’s banned smoking. -
0:56 - 0:59Athena has come to peace with the fact
-
0:59 - 1:01that her brother Apollo isn't very bright.
-
1:01 - 1:02(Laughter)
-
1:02 - 1:04Narcissus broke up with himself.
-
1:04 - 1:05(Laughter)
-
1:05 - 1:08Orpheus only speaks the truth,
but he plays a lyre. -
1:08 - 1:10Dionysus is sober but Icarus is high,
-
1:10 - 1:13Poseidon is sloshed
and Medusa just got stoned. -
1:13 - 1:14(Laughter)
-
1:14 - 1:15Atlas is on top of the world.
-
1:15 - 1:16(Laughter)
-
1:16 - 1:18Athena is also proud of her humility,
-
1:18 - 1:21and Hermes thinks
that hubris belongs on pita bread. -
1:21 - 1:22(Laughter)
-
1:22 - 1:25Zeus knows everything except
how to spell the word omniscient -
1:25 - 1:26and Thor -
-
1:26 - 1:28What the hell is Thor doing here?
-
1:28 - 1:30(Laughter)
-
1:36 - 1:38Midas has the Golden Touch
-
1:38 - 1:42but thanks to Aphrodite
he has also got a touch of herpes. -
1:42 - 1:45Medea is offering advice on parenting.
-
1:45 - 1:47Antigone is agreeable.
-
1:47 - 1:50An audience smart enough
to understand these jokes -
1:50 - 1:52is too intelligent to be amused by them.
-
1:52 - 1:56And Oedipus’ date looks
old enough to be his mother! -
1:56 - 1:57(Laughter)
-
1:57 - 1:59And what do all
these foreboding signs forebode? -
1:59 - 2:01We are all doomed to die.
-
2:01 - 2:02The Greeks are preparing an attack.
-
2:02 - 2:05They will lay siege to this city
and destroy this city -
2:05 - 2:09and everyone within these walls shall
perish by flame and arrow and sword. -
2:09 - 2:10Oh, and you're out of napkins.
-
2:10 - 2:11(Laughter)
