Unlocking The Truth - Malcolm Brickhouse & Jarad Dawkins

  • 0:12 - 0:15
I've known him since I was four,
  • 0:15 - 0:17
we met at a birthday party.
  • 0:17 - 0:21
I asked him *"do you wanna start a band?"*
  • 0:21 - 0:24
Ever since then, we write about things in our life,
  • 0:24 - 0:26
    about school,
  • 0:26 - 0:28
    also, we write love songs
  • 0:28 - 0:32
    about relationships we deal with.
  • 0:32 - 0:34
    I know it's a little grown up,
  • 0:34 - 0:38
but we just still do it cause that's what we like to do.
  • 0:38 - 0:40
We have our fake tours at home...
  • 0:40 - 0:43
    Madison Square Garden, Fairbanks Plaza...
  • 0:43 - 0:48
We imagine that we're performing at those places,
  • 0:48 - 0:51
but actually we're just performing in our basement.
  • 0:51 - 0:55
[* loud heavy metal 4/4 time guitar and drums...* ]
  • 1:23 - 1:28
    Usually a kid band,
they would sound, like, they're kids,
  • 1:28 - 1:30
like they just started playing instruments,
  • 1:30 - 1:32
but us, when they actually see us,
  • 1:32 - 1:36
they think that we're 30 years old.
  • 1:36 - 1:41
I don't like doing the same thing that everybody else is doing, I wanna do my own thing.
  • 1:42 - 1:48
    Since I wear nail polish,
which is not normal for most boys to wear,
  • 1:48 - 1:51
not really get bullied... but people bother me about it.
  • 1:51 - 1:54
At times it offends me, at times it doesn't,
  • 1:54 - 1:58
so I just write songs about it.
  • 1:59 - 2:03
Most people listen to hip-hop music,
  • 2:03 - 2:06
there's not a lot of people
that really listen to metal any more.
  • 2:06 - 2:11
We wouldn't see kids like us
    actually picking our own genre.
  • 2:11 - 2:15
It's something that we will be known for.
  • 2:16 - 2:19
I know a lot of people doubt me,
  • 2:19 - 2:22
but then I really don't listen to those people.
  • 2:22 - 2:25
Cause I know I'm gonna be famous anyway.
  • 2:25 - 2:27
    Now I'm writing a book.
  • 2:27 - 2:31
    The book is about people
who are being bullied in school,
  • 2:31 - 2:33
    and they joined a band,
  • 2:33 - 2:36
and they have became rich and famous,
  • 2:36 - 2:39
and they toured all over the world.
  • 2:39 - 2:44
    And people that judged them,
    they have became homeless.
  • 2:44 - 2:48
And... it's like based on a true story.
  • 2:48 - 2:52
[* loud heavy metal guitar and drums...* ]
  • 3:17 - 3:22
We do wanna inspire other people.
  • 3:22 - 3:25
Don't let nobody push you down.
  • 3:25 - 3:28
Be free, do what you wanna do.
  • 3:28 - 3:30
    Just, be yourself.
  • 3:30 - 3:32
And do what you do best.
