India's race to space | S R Chakravarthy | TEDxIITMadras
Description:

"A one-km auto rickshaw ride costs Rs 10 and India reached Mars at Rs 10 per km"
Prof. Chakravarthy talks about India's monumental rise in the field of space research and exploration using their very own indigenous technologies.

Dr Chakravarthy is a Professor at the Aerospace Engineering Department of IIT Madras. He completed his B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from our institute in 1991, following which he pursued an M.S. as well as a Ph.D. at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research areas lie in Combustion and Propulsion, combustion instability, computational combustion, solid propellants and metal (nano-aluminium) combustion. His proximity with projects at ISRO make him the ideal person to present a speech about the advances of Indian space technology.
