Finland Outi

  • Not Synced
Just a quick introduction about who you are and so on.
  • Not Synced
Well, I am am Outi Pikaro and I am with the Finnish chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement.
  • Not Synced
I have been with the movement for about a half an year and
  • Not Synced
I heard about the movement for the first time in the spring after viewing
  • Not Synced
the Finnish version of the Zeitgeist movie, called "Ajan henki".
  • Not Synced
And ever since I have started to get involved with the movement more and more.
  • Not Synced
Damn I wathced over there! Cut this part off.
  • Not Synced
Tell us a little about how you got involved with the movement and...
  • Not Synced
I just told you a minute ago.
  • Not Synced
Well I can tell you the longer version, so..
  • Not Synced
I first heard about the Zeitgeist Movement when I read a headline in Iltalehti called "Eggman's weird cult".
  • Not Synced
This 'eggman' is a guy named Riku Nieminen who featured in a Finnish sketch show called "Putous".
  • Not Synced
He had this character called 'eggman' and it was really popular in Finland and the whole nation seem to love it.
  • Not Synced
Then, after a while he told to the public that he supports the Zeitgeist Movement.
  • Not Synced
After that the media just came up with all kinds of headlines about
  • Not Synced
how the 'eggman' is involved with some weird cult and all that stuff, so I got curious, like:
  • Not Synced
"what is it all about?! I have to get more information about it!"
  • Not Synced
Then I just went through all the articles and such.
  • Not Synced
Then I saw them mention the Finnish Zeitgeist Movie and I watched it.
  • Not Synced
I watched it with the attitude of like: "When will they show the aliens and where is the cult part?".
  • Not Synced
Mostly just... looking for a scandal and all that stuff.
  • Not Synced
Then I really started watching it, asking: "What do they mean by a cult?
  • Not Synced
This really makes sense. This actually makes more sense than anything I've seen before."
  • Not Synced
...or what I have ever faced.
  • Not Synced
The movie discusses the root causes of the problems and not just...
  • Not Synced
...in the way of saying: "If there is a problem, let's solve it by adding regulations, rules and let's forbid things."
  • Not Synced
It doesn't try to solve these problems by using politics and I had never thought things that way!
  • Not Synced
No I can see many things in a whole new way.
  • Not Synced
Then I thought like: "Hey, this is just awesome!" And after that I watched the original films by Peter Joseph:
  • Not Synced
first "Addendum" and then "Moving Forward". After them I watched a whole lot of other documentaries
  • Not Synced
and a whole new world opened to me.
  • Not Synced
That was really good. Just go on!
  • Not Synced
I don't know what you were nervous about!
  • Not Synced
What is it about the movement and the RBE that really attracts you?
  • Not Synced
    What makes all this worthwhile?
  • Not Synced
What attracts me the most about this movement is probably the feeling of justice.
  • Not Synced
Ever since I was little, I felt bad seeing all the inequality around me.
  • Not Synced
Somehow during the years I just have become numb to all that and I've had to swallow the fact that
  • Not Synced
things are bad in the third world countries and even in Finland things seem to be worse somehow.
  • Not Synced
I just learned to accept that greed is sort of OK - or actually the fact that it is around us.
  • Not Synced
This movement has in a way given me the permission to say: "Hey, this isn't OK!"
  • Not Synced
Now I have people with whom I can discuss the subject and... in a way...
  • Not Synced
sometimes I have even felt that I am wrong when I think that inequality and other problems are not OK.
  • Not Synced
So, maybe that is one of the biggest reasons for me...
  • Not Synced
Cut! What was the question again?
  • Not Synced
What attracts you in this movement? Your answer was actually good.
  • Not Synced
Also a very important thing about this movement is the people and the fact that
  • Not Synced
I don't have to be alone with these opinions and the subjects that I have started to get interested in.
  • Not Synced
These things have always been important and now I have people who I can talk,
  • Not Synced
learn and spread the information with. These people are a sort of safety net what I have never had.
  • Not Synced
A lot of goodhearted and kind people who really want to
  • Not Synced
treat others as they want others to treat themselves.
  • Not Synced
That has given me a lot.
  • Not Synced
Tell us about the movement from your own perspective.
  • Not Synced
I have been with the movement for a half and year and it started when I went to the
  • Not Synced
    national meeting.
  • Not Synced
There I met people, got new contacts and got involved with the local group in Helsinki.
  • Not Synced
I live in Espoo, but the Helsinki group includes the whole area near the capital.
  • Not Synced
So, it also includes Espoo, Vantaa and maybe some others farther away.
  • Not Synced
I also have gotten to know the people and we have held meetings in parks in the summer,
  • Not Synced
    also in libraries.
  • Not Synced
I have met some of them in other events as well.
  • Not Synced
The summer has been a little quiet, but we are arranging a national event to be held in the autumn.
  • Not Synced
In that way I have gotten new friends and the whole... 'social circle' has grown.
