Click Your Fortune #3: Top interview question - Jennifer Indovina

  • 0:01 - 0:05
    What's one interview question
    you ask every prospective employee?
  • 0:05 - 0:07
    I'm fortunate that
a bunch of my founding team
  • 0:07 - 0:09
    is still with me,
  • 0:09 - 0:12
and we were friends off the bat
  • 0:12 - 0:15
so we can be very comfortable
    with each other.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
So, I'd say the first question
    I ask is actually,
  • 0:18 - 0:20
    "Tell me your story."
  • 0:20 - 0:22
    It may seem pretty simple,
  • 0:22 - 0:23
but really what I'm looking for
  • 0:23 - 0:26
    is creativity,
  • 0:26 - 0:27
    honesty,
  • 0:27 - 0:29
    and probably the most
    important characteristic
  • 0:29 - 0:31
that no one ever talks about
  • 0:31 - 0:32
    is sense of humor.
  • 0:32 - 0:35
    If you can't roll with
    my existing team
  • 0:35 - 0:36
    and laugh at
    the same jokes as us
  • 0:36 - 0:38
    and get it done at
    the same pace as us,
  • 0:38 - 0:41
    then you can't
    contribute to the team,
  • 0:41 - 0:44
    and that would be
    horrible for you, you know?
  • 0:44 - 0:45
    You don't want to be
    in an environment
  • 0:45 - 0:47
    where you don't really feel
  • 0:47 - 0:48
like you're a part of the family.
  • 0:48 - 0:50
    So, I start from there.
  • 0:50 - 0:51
    What's your story?
  • 0:51 - 0:52
    Who are you?
