Spain Alvaro

  • 0:04 - 0:07
    Hi, mi name is Alvaro
  • 0:07 - 0:10
and live in Picasent near Valencia
  • 0:12 - 0:15
I'm trying to be the most self sustainable as is possible
  • 0:16 - 0:22
to avoid, producing and consuming from this system
  • 0:26 - 0:30
Q1: can you say anything more about what you do, the projects etc?
  • 0:33 - 0:43
do you translate or should i start?_yes, what is that you do in the movement, and the reasons you joined.
  • 0:43 - 0:50
well i got in the zeitgeist movement because i think
  • 0:51 - 1:01
It is the social movement that has the best plan to solve the planet's problems
  • 1:01 - 1:07
and i'm involved in several projects in the zeitgest movement
  • 1:07 - 1:13
developing some technologies of renewable energies
  • 1:13 - 1:24
helping in what i can. with some colleagues with computer technology knowledge
  • 1:24 - 1:25
    free software
  • 1:25 - 1:37
and some things related to agriculture, ecological agriculture
  • 1:37 - 1:42
    recycling organic residues.
  • 1:42 - 1:48
I started as an activist 6 months ago
  • 1:48 - 1:57
and i'm very happy and very hopeful about the work that's being done
  • 2:00 - 2:12
why do you like the movement and the resource based economy?
  • 2:12 - 2:19
the resource based economy seems to be the only feasible way
  • 2:19 - 2:25
to survive in a planet with limited resources
  • 2:25 - 2:35
i think its obviously clear that we can´t keep devastating the planet at the speed we are doing it
  • 2:35 - 2:41
we must adapt ourselves to the production rhythms of nature
  • 2:41 - 2:51
but that doesn’t mean that we have to give up confort,
  • 2:51 - 2:59
technology today could allow us to live in a world were we could have abundace of all the things
  • 2:59 - 3:05
without having to deprive ourselves of virtually anything
  • 3:07 - 3:11
and almost without having to work
  • 3:11 - 3:14
that’s what the technology based in resources is about
  • 3:14 - 3:21
applying the technologies to live in consonance with the capacity of the planet
  • 3:21 - 3:27
but apliying the technology to make our life easier
  • 3:29 - 3:36
Q2: can you say something about the movement in Spain?
  • 3:38 - 3:45
the history and the future of the movement in Spain
  • 4:01 - 4:08
i'm not very old in the movemnt. i've only been for 6 months
  • 4:08 - 4:13
so i am not one of the other, like him
  • 4:18 - 4:37
so more important question is if you could say something more about the economic political and social situation in spain
  • 4:37 - 4:44
or if you prefer to speak about the movement in spain, were can it go
  • 4:44 - 4:51
how can it evolve, the local situation basicly
  • 4:51 - 5:02
i see the movement in spain like in the rest of the world. The situation in spain its not better
  • 5:02 - 5:10
than in the majority of the countries, they are starting to feel the symptoms of a sistem that is tumbling down
  • 5:10 - 5:21
and its no longer sustainable. there are a lot of problems that come from the non-sustainability of this system
  • 5:21 - 5:29
the tecnological unemployment is affecting a lot of people, there are 5 milions of unemployees
  • 5:29 - 5:41
and the social situation is becoming more tense and some attempts of response are coming up,
  • 5:41 - 5:49
but most of people are lost and they don’t have the answers to the questions they are making
  • 5:49 - 5:59
we offer an answer an alternative to this system and our job is to reach as many people as we can,
  • 5:59 - 6:04
and make them understand, that what we are suggesting is not only viable
  • 6:04 - 6:11
but that it would also be very good for everybody
  • 6:11 - 6:22
how do you see the transition from what we have now to a resource based economy, to the better world?
  • 6:22 - 6:25
    my favorite question
  • 6:26 - 6:41
the transition is one of the most controversial questions inside the movement, how would it go,
  • 6:41 - 6:46
from the actual system to the resourced based economy.
  • 6:46 - 6:49
Many people can not picture it clearly.
  • 6:49 - 6:54
i imagine how that transition can be made
  • 6:54 - 7:05
and i think that it would be a gradual process of adopting different technologies
  • 7:05 - 7:12
that can make possible for people to have access to resources in a free way
  • 7:12 - 7:20
i mean developing and distributing technologies in open source
  • 7:20 - 7:28
for people to be able to provide for themselves with the neccessary resources to live.
  • 7:28 - 7:36
in several cases provinding ourselves without having to work, or working very little compared to what we do today
  • 7:36 - 7:48
to gain money to buy things to live in comfort. we have a lot of technology that we are not applying
  • 7:48 - 7:52
and majority of the people don´t know about it
  • 7:56 - 8:00
if we apply the technology that we already have, we could live without problems
  • 8:00 - 8:09
all the world almost without having to work.
  • 8:09 - 8:23
i see this process of transition, like a way to slowly implement those technologies.
  • 8:23 - 8:31
at first in a personal way. giving the example of its use and that they are applicable
  • 8:31 - 8:42
and as the quantity of activists and interested people about zeitgeist growth,
  • 8:42 - 8:50
the aplication and implementation of those technologies will increase.
  • 8:50 - 8:56
and it would be a process of feedback
the more people that work out of the system
  • 8:56 - 9:04
thanks to the implementation of those technologies that allow people to access for free to the resources
  • 9:04 - 9:10
more people would be seeing the efects of it and that it really works
  • 9:10 - 9:19
and therefore more people will feel attracted to work
    outside the monetary system
  • 9:19 - 9:22
and to join the resouce based economy.
  • 9:22 - 9:32
and gradually the system will be empyting of its labor force and consummers
  • 9:32 - 9:40
to finaly disapear on a pacific and gradual way
  • 9:50 - 9:53
there is not much light now
  • 9:53 - 9:58
this camera are pretty good with this, we can still make it.
  • 10:08 - 10:20
    Q. message to the people of the world. what do you want to tell to the people.
  • 10:22 - 10:26
some advice maybe, what should they do to change their lives or something.
  • 10:26 - 10:39
you know maybe it could be something about we should grow...
  • 10:39 - 10:47
it can be one sentence, something that you think its important, it could be your favorite quot.
  • 10:47 - 11:00
it could be something that you recently discoverd in your life and whant to share it.something close to your heart that you want to share with others
  • 11:08 - 11:14
if you whant build another world...in spanish or english? sorry
  • 11:29 - 11:35
if we want to build another world we must do it ourselves
  • 11:38 - 11:46
    - you can do it with dog. yeah you can take the dog in your hand, and the second one too -
  • 11:46 - 11:55
the perfect motion._ you must see i built a fantastic machine.
  • 11:55 - 11:57
    all right.
  • 11:58 - 12:08
if we whant to buil a world like...no no...its not that, cut.
  • 12:09 - 12:12
ok i know i'll start over.
  • 12:19 - 12:28
to buil the world we want we will have to do it ourselves, and we will have to learn how to do it
  • 12:28 - 12:32
we must learn to build things
