AAC Apps for iPad and their Flexibility
-
0:08 - 0:10A lot of the augmentative alternative communication apps available
-
0:10 - 0:15for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch are really flexible
-
0:15 - 0:19My son who's 8 and has autism is verbal
-
0:19 - 0:25so he doesn't necessarily need
an alternative an alternative communication app to help him speak -
0:25 - 0:28but pulling words from him can be like pulling teeth.
-
0:28 - 0:34He can't answer simple questions like, "who did you see at school today?"
-
0:34 - 0:38To demonstrate the flexibility of one of the apps
-
0:38 - 0:43- the app that you are about to see is called My Talk Mobile.
-
0:43 - 0:47What we've done is we took his class photo here
-
0:47 - 0:54scanned in each of the individual photos into the application so that when I ask him
-
0:54 - 1:01who he saw today you can actually touch one of the children or one of the teachers
-
1:01 - 1:05and can show me. So it kind of reinforces that.
-
