Croatia Sasha

  • 0:00 - 0:07
I'm Sasha, from Croatia, and in The Movement I deal with media.
  • 0:09 - 0:18
The first project we did was a wall newspaper, a sort of prinable online magazine.
  • 0:19 - 0:26
The goal of that newspaper is to reach both online population
  • 0:26 - 0:31
and the one that does not have online access.
  • 0:32 - 0:43
The concept of the paper is based on comparing the system we have today with the one based on RBE.
  • 0:44 - 0:57
What I consider important is that the paper does not impose anything, but gives a broader insight
  • 0:57 - 1:01
to The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM) and The Venus Project (TVP).
  • 1:06 - 1:14
    (...next Q...)
  • 1:17 - 1:21
Q: What can you tell us about the progress of the movement in your country?
  • 1:24 - 1:29
TZM is rather new in Croatia.
  • 1:30 - 1:35
    It's expansion is very slow.
  • 1:36 - 1:38
But I think that is not important at all,
  • 1:38 - 1:47
because the idea of TZM is already alive within the people of Croatia
  • 1:49 - 1:55
and I'm not talking about RBE, but about the awereness of how the system does not function,
  • 1:55 - 2:00
that the people deserve something much better,
  • 2:00 - 2:12
and I think that citizens of Croatia are thinking about these things, and TZM is here to offer some solutions
  • 2:12 - 2:19
or an alternative they might accept at this very moment.
  • 2:22 - 2:45
(.......... he says he has lost his thread and asks to start over........ or rather proceed to the next question. He says he thinks Natalija has answered this Q much better...)
  • 2:49 - 3:33
Q: Why do you support The Movement and RBE?
  • 3:35 - 3:40
Q: Why do you support The Movement and RBE?
  • 3:42 - 3:48
I have noticed that kids can understand the concept of RBE
  • 3:48 - 3:52
easier than they can understand the monetary system.
  • 3:52 - 4:07
I think that adults, in time, simply forget the idea of solidarity, of sharing, they learn something new
  • 4:07 - 4:14
and simply supress those ideas that they consider natural from their childhood.
  • 4:14 - 4:23
Because we, as social beeings tend to unite, tend to create things together
  • 4:24 - 4:33
and, what appeals to me the most in TZM,
  • 4:34 - 4:41
is that there is a way for that to happen
  • 4:42 - 4:47
and that is in fact through this education that TZM is promoting and performing.
  • 4:47 - 4:57
I think I can contribute to that goal, so I decided to become a part of it, of The Movement.
  • 4:59 - 5:02
  • 5:21 - 5:27
Q: What is the political, social and economic situation in your country?
  • 5:27 - 5:27
  • 5:28 - 5:37
Croatia is, like so many times before, going through some major social changes.
  • 5:37 - 5:43
All those things we were thought in school, is happening today, once again.
  • 5:44 - 5:49
I think the country is loosing its soverenity and the people its freedom.
  • 5:50 - 5:54
We are witnessing great social stratification.
  • 5:55 - 5:59
There are at least three layers to the bigger picture.
  • 6:00 - 6:06
There is one part of the population, the so called elite.
  • 6:08 - 6:17
There is middle class, almost dissapearing. These people are struggling most for their survival.
  • 6:18 - 6:33
And the third part of the society, living on its margins, the unvisible, the unspoken of, the forgotten.
  • 6:34 - 6:45
And I think that the most interesting people, the ones that are thinking on these changes, live on this very margin.
  • 6:47 - 6:59
It is hard to compare Croatia today and Croatia some twenty years ago, when this country was formed,
  • 6:59 - 7:09
because I was a child, but I remeber that everybody was full of hope in the country's
  • 7:09 - 7:15
independence, on it's soyerenity and fought for it's freedom.
  • 7:15 - 7:19
Today, we don't feel that freedom.
  • 7:19 - 7:27
Because we are limited by our purchasing power, our freedom of movement is limited, depending
  • 7:27 - 7:31
once again on our purchasing power.
  • 7:31 - 7:39
Parts of our country, our parents, brothers and friends fought for,
  • 7:39 - 7:47
are beyond reach to those of us without money.
  • 7:47 - 7:55
Our sociaty is falling into a bigger and bigger depresion.
  • 7:55 - 8:00
Everybody wants changes, less and less people consume their democratic right to vote,
  • 8:00 - 8:08
even fiewer people believe in democracy, in all the dogma we believed in, and I think weather there is
  • 8:08 - 8:17
or there is no TZM in Croatia, the idea of TZM is alive within it's people.
  • 8:17 - 8:26
And the people need so little to get going, to make that change within the society.
  • 8:26 - 8:33
Although this societey appears to be conservative from the outside,
  • 8:33 - 8:41
like full of prejudice, really devided,
  • 8:41 - 9:31
I think that, as a whole, it can, in a very short period of time, raise it's awareness.
  • 9:31 - 9:49
    ...
  • 9:49 - 9:58
Although this societey appears to be conservative from the outside, full of prejudice, really devided,
  • 9:59 - 10:01
I think that it is ready for the change.
  • 10:01 - 10:13
I think that, looking at a bigger picture, Croatian people today really want something better.
  • 10:14 - 10:22
The only thing is that, neither we ourselves know what we really want, and how we can achieve that.
  • 10:32 - 10:39
Q: How do you see the transition between the monetary sistem to RBE?
  • 10:44 - 10:49
    I see two possible scenarios.
  • 10:55 - 11:02
One is like that moment when all of the current system colapses.
  • 11:04 - 11:13
Then, people will have to decide weather they will grab a rifle or a shovel.
  • 11:15 - 11:25
Many people think this moment is approaching very rapidly, and there is less and less time
  • 11:25 - 11:36
for the people to become aware and to, instead of war, choose a beter system, like RBE.
  • 11:37 - 11:42
But I think the scenario does not need to be like that.
  • 11:42 - 11:48
We don't have to wait for the system to colapse to make a change.
  • 11:49 - 12:02
Even now we have a vast knowledge, not only in technology, but in any social or natural science
  • 12:02 - 12:11
that can easily help every man to change the world.
  • 12:11 - 12:19
What people should be aware of is that they can start even today on building the RBE.
  • 12:19 - 12:21
    Bit by bit.
  • 12:21 - 12:27
Even today, the resources they have, people themselves, maybe some money,
  • 12:27 - 12:34
maybe some things they have but don't use, maybe some land they are not using to grow food,
  • 12:34 - 12:44
or anything thew own, because they have to own something nowadays,
  • 12:44 - 12:48
they can use to contribute to common good.
  • 12:49 - 12:55
There is this true story about a friend of mine,
  • 12:56 - 13:05
and he has one neighbout who is planting cucumbers in his garden,
  • 13:06 - 13:12
and the other who is planting tomatoes.
  • 13:13 - 13:23
Each of them has a small garden, but still grow to much for themselves.
  • 13:25 - 13:31
At the same time, they have to go to the market to buy the other food they need.
  • 13:31 - 13:39
The surpluss of cucumbers produced by the first neighbour,
  • 13:40 - 13:44
and the surpluss of tomatoes produced by the other,
  • 13:45 - 13:49
they throw away into the same garbage container!
  • 13:50 - 13:56
I think that people should learn about their environment, start from that,
  • 13:57 - 14:03
get to know the situation of their neighbours,
  • 14:03 - 14:15
their friends and relatives, and get to share these resources they already have,
  • 14:16 - 14:19
in that spirit of Zeitgeist. And that could be the first step forward.
  • 14:19 - 14:33
The awakening should begin from every person to a broader society.
  • 14:33 - 14:41
For although TVP is a global thing, it has to start from somewhere.
  • 14:42 - 14:50
It doesn't have to start at once, simply, in time, I think everything will fit into it's place.
  • 14:57 - 15:02
Q: What is your message to the people of the world?
  • 15:05 - 15:09
Think about your life you have been leading so far.
  • 15:09 - 15:11
    Analyse it.
  • 15:12 - 15:16
Think on where that lifestyle is leading to.
  • 15:17 - 15:22
Will you be satisfied with your life when you grow old?
  • 15:22 - 15:29
Do you think you are using your time the way you want to?
  • 15:31 - 15:33
    That's it!
  • 15:34 -
