Part Three: Communication with Our Inner Sangha | Guided Meditation with Peggy Rowe-Ward

  • 0:15 - 0:16
    Welcome, friends.
  • 0:17 - 0:19
Going to offer a short guided
  • 0:19 - 0:21
    meditation as we
  • 0:21 - 0:23
    continue to explore
  • 0:23 - 0:25
    with the curiosity and the
  • 0:25 - 0:26
    openness
  • 0:27 - 0:29
that we introduced on our first
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    session.
  • 0:32 - 0:33
So to begin, we're going to do a
  • 0:33 - 0:35
    quick grounding.
  • 0:36 - 0:37
    You're getting to be
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    great fans of this.
  • 0:39 - 0:41
    So just notice very
  • 0:42 - 0:44
    easily your
  • 0:44 - 0:46
    body in space and time.
  • 0:53 - 0:54
Aware of the earth beneath your
  • 0:54 - 0:55
    feet.
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    The sky overhead.
  • 1:09 - 1:11
    That's good. And each
  • 1:11 - 1:13
    breath you take just relaxing,
  • 1:13 - 1:15
    even more.
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    Settling.
  • 1:18 - 1:19
    Staying curious.
  • 1:19 - 1:21
    There's no right or wrong.
  • 1:32 - 1:34
Each breath, just allowing your body
  • 1:34 - 1:36
    to settle and drop right
  • 1:36 - 1:37
    into where you are.
  • 1:41 - 1:43
    I find it helpful to
  • 1:43 - 1:46
    name the dirt or soil
  • 1:46 - 1:48
    or sand beneath my feet,
  • 1:49 - 1:51
    to honor their ancestors.
  • 1:57 - 1:59
And aware of the the vertical energy
  • 1:59 - 2:01
    running earth to sky.
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    Just imagining that
  • 2:09 - 2:11
their heads touching a cloud a
  • 2:11 - 2:13
little bit. But your feet are on the
  • 2:13 - 2:14
    earth.
  • 2:16 - 2:18
I'm gonna bring in the horizontal
  • 2:18 - 2:19
    energy.
  • 2:23 - 2:25
This connects us to the earth and
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    each other.
  • 2:27 - 2:28
    People. Animals.
  • 2:28 - 2:30
    Plants. Minerals.
  • 2:37 - 2:39
And then tipping just a little from
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    the back, just finding
  • 2:41 - 2:43
the backside of your body and the
  • 2:43 - 2:44
    front side.
  • 2:51 - 2:53
    And a grounding superpower is
  • 2:53 - 2:55
imagining you've got that big T-Rex
  • 2:55 - 2:56
    tail.
  • 3:01 - 3:03
    Relaxing the pelvis and
  • 3:03 - 3:04
    just being right here.
  • 3:13 - 3:16
    So from this place
  • 3:16 - 3:17
    in time,
  • 3:18 - 3:20
I'd like you to imagine going to
  • 3:20 - 3:22
your safe place in nature that
  • 3:22 - 3:24
we explored in our first session.
  • 3:27 - 3:29
Can be useful to choose the same
  • 3:29 - 3:31
place, but you don't have to.
  • 3:35 - 3:37
That could call the same route that
  • 3:37 - 3:38
    you took.
  • 3:40 - 3:42
    Walking magic carpet,
  • 3:43 - 3:45
flying in the back of an eagle and
  • 3:45 - 3:46
    boom landing
  • 3:47 - 3:48
    into
  • 3:49 - 3:51
    the safe place in nature.
  • 3:54 - 3:56
Thay often mentioned the island of
  • 3:56 - 3:57
    self.
  • 3:59 - 4:02
    That really works for me.
  • 4:02 - 4:03
    And
  • 4:04 - 4:06
some of us are less comfortable with
  • 4:06 - 4:08
    water, so just see
  • 4:08 - 4:10
where you are aware of the
  • 4:10 - 4:11
    sounds.
  • 4:14 - 4:15
    The smells.
  • 4:19 - 4:20
    The colors.
  • 4:23 - 4:24
    And the
  • 4:25 - 4:26
    textures.
  • 4:32 - 4:34
Good. And just anchoring in that
  • 4:34 - 4:36
    sense of safety and beauty.
  • 4:41 - 4:42
    Good.
  • 4:42 - 4:44
And you can say to yourself, I am
  • 4:44 - 4:45
    safe.
  • 4:47 - 4:48
If you're not sure, just move your
  • 4:48 - 4:50
head very slowly to the left
  • 4:50 - 4:52
    and right. And just with
  • 4:52 - 4:53
    soft eyes scan.
  • 4:58 - 4:59
    I am safe.
  • 5:09 - 5:11
So in this moment, I'd like you to
  • 5:11 - 5:12
    allow a
  • 5:13 - 5:15
question from your heart to come up.
  • 5:16 - 5:18
    Or a feeling or concern.
  • 5:20 - 5:22
I know my heart in this day is
  • 5:22 - 5:23
    wishing
  • 5:26 - 5:27
    for more peace.
  • 5:34 - 5:36
    Allow that to arise.
  • 5:36 - 5:38
And then we're going to welcome
  • 5:38 - 5:40
or invite to your safe place
  • 5:40 - 5:41
    in nature
  • 5:43 - 5:45
    a blood or spiritual ancestor
  • 5:49 - 5:52
that would like to support you
  • 5:52 - 5:53
    with your question or
  • 5:54 - 5:55
    concern.
  • 6:06 - 6:07
    Welcoming
  • 6:13 - 6:14
    this blood or spiritual ancestor
  • 6:17 - 6:19
who comes forward today, maybe more
  • 6:19 - 6:20
    than one, but
  • 6:21 - 6:22
we're opening the door to one.
  • 6:33 - 6:34
    And knowledge
  • 6:35 - 6:38
whether you can see or just know
  • 6:38 - 6:39
    or just feel that
  • 6:41 - 6:42
    there is an inner sangha
  • 6:42 - 6:45
    member present.
  • 6:47 - 6:49
I know mine in my practice in this
  • 6:49 - 6:50
    moment is Thich Nhat Hanh
  • 6:52 - 6:53
who has been my deep teacher of
  • 6:53 - 6:54
    peace.
  • 7:01 - 7:03
It might be your grandma or
  • 7:03 - 7:04
    your coach.
  • 7:05 - 7:06
    Or Jesus.
  • 7:08 - 7:09
    Or Mohammed.
  • 7:09 - 7:10
    Just welcome.
  • 7:25 - 7:27
And greeting them with a bow or a
  • 7:27 - 7:28
    hug or a smile.
  • 7:28 - 7:29
    And then
  • 7:30 - 7:32
asking any question you might have
  • 7:32 - 7:34
    in this moment with
  • 7:34 - 7:36
    whatever is connected to your
  • 7:36 - 7:37
    concern or topic.
  • 7:37 - 7:38
    Mine was peace.
  • 8:01 - 8:02
    Staying on the earth.
  • 8:08 - 8:10
    Staying with this inner sangha
  • 8:10 - 8:11
    member that came forward today.
  • 8:17 - 8:19
    In my practice some are
  • 8:19 - 8:20
    chatty.
  • 8:20 - 8:21
    Some just use one word,
  • 8:23 - 8:24
or point at something, or use a
  • 8:24 - 8:25
    symbol.
  • 8:26 - 8:27
    Just be open
  • 8:29 - 8:31
    to how the communication happens.
  • 8:35 - 8:37
And if you don't understand let that
  • 8:38 - 8:40
    being, person know.
  • 8:41 - 8:43
And they can try another way to
  • 8:43 - 8:44
    communicate.
  • 9:06 - 9:08
    Good. Anything else you'd
  • 9:08 - 9:09
    like to ask this
  • 9:11 - 9:12
    inner sangha member?
  • 9:45 - 9:46
    Good.
  • 9:46 - 9:48
    Thanking that person
  • 9:48 - 9:50
or persons who have come forward.
  • 9:56 - 9:58
    Express your gratitude and
  • 10:00 - 10:02
    giving them permission to leave.
  • 10:07 - 10:08
    And also noticing
  • 10:08 - 10:10
where you can feel or sense
  • 10:10 - 10:11
    them in your body.
  • 10:24 - 10:26
And it might be very simple, just a
  • 10:26 - 10:27
    little bit of warmth.
  • 10:29 - 10:31
    Or like a little
  • 10:31 - 10:32
    twitch or
  • 10:33 - 10:34
    jiggle.
  • 10:41 - 10:42
In this moment, I'm feeling a lot of
  • 10:42 - 10:43
    warmth at my heart.
  • 10:46 - 10:47
    Just notice what you notice.
  • 10:54 - 10:56
And then it's you and your
  • 10:56 - 10:58
    safe place in nature,
  • 10:58 - 11:00
    your island of self, and
  • 11:00 - 11:02
    taking the same route you
  • 11:02 - 11:04
    took back to where
  • 11:04 - 11:06
you are practicing from in this
  • 11:06 - 11:07
    moment.
  • 11:15 - 11:17
And I invite you if you choose to,
  • 11:17 - 11:19
or if you're able to put a hand on
  • 11:19 - 11:21
your heart and a hand on your belly.
  • 11:29 - 11:30
Very good. And just to close the
  • 11:30 - 11:32
    practice however you choose to.
  • 11:35 - 11:37
    With my practice, I
  • 11:37 - 11:39
like to finish with more gratitude
  • 11:39 - 11:41
    and sometimes
  • 11:41 - 11:43
    was a prayer for myself,
  • 11:43 - 11:45
    for my beloved.
  • 12:02 - 12:04
    Just settling in
  • 12:04 - 12:06
    we'll be enjoying the bell.
  • 12:06 - 12:08
But I encourage you to stay very
  • 12:08 - 12:09
    curious, open, and
  • 12:13 - 12:15
    kind with yourself.
  • 12:15 - 12:16
We all have different ways of
  • 12:16 - 12:18
    knowing. Perhaps it
  • 12:18 - 12:19
will be a dream that will help you
  • 12:19 - 12:20
    connect.
  • 12:22 - 12:24
    Perhaps it'll be something
  • 12:24 - 12:25
    in nature.
  • 12:33 - 12:35
So again, thanks this day for
  • 12:37 - 12:38
    outer community of support
  • 12:38 - 12:41
    and internal community
  • 12:41 - 12:42
of support. Thank you for your
  • 12:42 - 12:44
    beautiful practice.
