How to Assign a Message in Hootsuite

The Assignment feature in Hootsuite
is one of the best ways

to collaborate with your team,
and share the workload

of your organization’s
social media management.

Assignments allow you to assign
specific social messages

to certain members of your team,

ensuring the message reaches
the most appropriate person to respond.

Before beginning to assign messages,
make sure you’ve set up your team,

added team members,

and added the corresponding
social network to the team.

To assign a message
to a team member

click on the dropdown arrow
in the top right

and select “Assign to”.

In the pop-up window, add the assignee
by searching by name or by team.

Once selected, you can add
a personalized note

to give context to why you’re assigning
that message to that person.

Then click Assign.

The assignee will now have that message
added to their message queue.

To see the queue, click
the Assignments tab on the navigation bar.

On the top of the page you can choose
from multiple dropdowns

to help narrow down
which list you would like to see.

Expanding an assigned messages gives
you more options for further action,

Here you can Reply, Direct Message,
Retweet, Assign, Resolve,

or send to another app
such as Zendesk.

The same workflow works
for assigning a message to yourself

by selecting “Assign to Me."

This is a great way to leave a reminder
for yourself to address the message later.

However, if you’re in multiple teams,
you’ll need to select a default team

to send your assigned messages
to one spot.
