Discussion starter after a George Couros ("The Innovative Mindset") presentation. How do we ignite the passion for learning in our students? Are we concerned more about fostering compliance than curiosity or quiet than creativity?

You want me to take risks.

You want me to be innovative.

You want me to be creative.

You want me to identify problems --

-- and to develop solutions.

You want me to make good decisions.

You want me to own my learning.

You want me to grow up?

You want me to be independent --

-- flexible,

-- adaptable.

You want me to be resilient.

You want me to learn from my mistakes?

BUT

I can't go to the bathroom.

I can't stand.

I can't stand.

I can't sit.

I can't even choose
when to use my cell phone --

or when to use my laptop.

I can't even choose
what color pen I want to use --
