Graham Turner, from Oxford, has been a national journalist for 45 years. He was the BBC’s first economics correspondent, 1965-1970, having been a reporter on the Sunday Times colour magazine. He worked on The Money Programme and Panorama for the BBC. For over 30 years he has been a freelance journalist, working as a feature writer for the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Telegraph and the Daily Mail. The Telegraph sent him on assignments to Japan, South Africa, India, the USA and the Middle East. He is the author of seven books including The Car Makers; The Persuasion Industry; The North Country; Business in Britain; and More than Conquerors. Reporting for the Daily Telegraph he had access to the royal family for almost a decade, leading to his 2002 book, Elizabeth: the woman and the Queen.
