Young players can inspire England says Morgan

  • 0:05 - 0:07
Morgan: Yeah, the guys are good.
  • 0:07 - 0:12
We've had 6 or 7 fresh new faces come into the side who have brought a lot of energy, including myself...
  • 0:12 - 0:19
and guys who are chomping at the bit to get involved who have had a bit of time off and sort of young guys
  • 0:19 - 0:26
coming through that are keen as I said to score runs and take wickets...so...again it's a lot of guys
  • 0:26 - 0:28
excited to get ths series started, so yeah.
  • 0:28 - 0:32
I mean if we look at the last one-day series the opportunities that came about...
  • 0:32 - 0:36
it was the sort of rise of a Ben Stokes and a Boyd Rankin and a Chris Jordan,
  • 0:36 - 0:41
which is magnificent they sort of grabbed great opportunities with both hands
  • 0:41 - 0:47
with the bat and ball which is great to see really in sort of preparation building for a World Cup in 2015
  • 0:47 - 0:53
it's really exciting and certainly looking at the Ashes, the excitement over the last year and the rivalry
  • 0:53 - 0:59
and the passion that's been with the two sides has certainly sparked that again I'd love to
  • 0:59 - 1:00
    play Ashes Cricket.
  • 1:00 - 1:04
I think there's about 400 days before the World Cup starts and it starts here in Melbourne
  • 1:04 - 1:09
so it's really exciting that the stuff that we build and the platform that we build while we're here during
  • 1:09 - 1:14
this series is really important. It's important that we learn from any mistakes that we do make and again
  • 1:14 - 1:17
that we build confidence down this side of the world.
  • 1:17 - 1:17
    Reporter: (Inaudible)
  • 1:17 - 1:21
Morgan: There is in the fact that the young guys are coming through and the opportunities are
  • 1:21 - 1:27
arising but I think with the hectic nature of the past 12 months we've had with Test cricket
  • 1:27 - 1:33
it's sort of the nature that a couple of one-day series guys have been rested here and there,
  • 1:33 - 1:38
and again it's created this opportunity, so it's fantastic for the squad, that guys who are
  • 1:38 - 1:43
coming in and doing well and it allows us to sort of build a great base because we will be able to take
  • 1:43 - 1:47
15 to a World Cup and I mean it's going to be a tight squeeze picking 15 cricketers because we
  • 1:47 - 1:53
could potentially take 20...so it does create opportunities, particularly for the young
  • 1:53 - 1:55
    guys coming through yeah.
  • 1:55 - 1:59
I repeat the last series that we played, we played against a very formidable Australian side
  • 1:59 - 2:04
as an inexperienced side that we put out and we certainly put up a good fight
  • 2:04 - 2:09
and we were disappointed not to win that series so looking towards the 2015 World Cup
  • 2:09 - 2:13
it's a long time and we'll play a lot of cricket between now and then but certainly we've got a good platform
  • 2:13 - 2:15
with the group of players that we do have.
