Minecraft :: Part 75 :: Building A Cabin 101

How's it going everyone.

Welcome back to The Minecraft, lets play.

My name of course is SystemZee

and today we are gonna start work on

the new project.

That's right, the Cabin in the Woods.

I'm extremely excited because we've got a

very, very cool location picked out.

So, I'm gonna go ahead and, uh

run up these little steps here,

these little pathways so we can wa..

What's up dog? (laughs)

Yo what up dog?

And we're gonna jump right off here and

I'm gonna show you guys what we're doing.

So welcome to a mega Tiaga Biome

We are very far away from the Mesa Biome.

So, no going back to that for a while,

um, but we are here in the new area.

So this is where we are going to be

building the Cabin in the Woods that

I was talking about last episode.

Now all of this, I did record me building

but I deleted the footage.

I deleted the footage,

and it looks great

and I'm very sad

but we're not gonna sit here and, you know

think about what could have been.

(laughs)

We're gonna talk about what will be.

We're gonna be building an awesome cabin.

A survival cabin here, right in this spot

and it's gonna be a, ya know

a moderately sized one,

but what's really important is the

decoration around it.

It's gonna be really cool.

And this is gonna be a redstone, kind of

heavy, uh, cabin I hope.

At least with farming, um,

cause the main idea is to get more

fireworks from this whole area,

because creepers are better in forest

and you know, that kind of stuff.

Um, but this is gonna be a really, really

cool project, I'm very excited

So this is where our architects

house is gonna be.

This is where we're gonna live

for the next few episodes.

So, let me give you guys a little tour.

So, we're gonna walk around here

and before we get to the landscaping

I'm gonna show you guys something

cool that you might wanna do

if you're doing something similar.

So, this is our house, right

very, very small.

Not a lot of storage going on, right,

how are we gonna store all of our

blocks for this project?

Well, thanks to the Shulker boxes

or the backpacks, in our case,

we can store them all in categories

in a Shulker box,

and I love that.

That system is gonna be great,

little bit of extra work to get something

simple like wood, um,

but it's just gonna allow us to store

a lot more, but it's very expensive.

I think after this episode I'm probably

gonna spend some time to, uh,

go farm some Shulker shells,

that would be great.

Uh, but then we've got two furnaces,

one there, and one there.

Of course a bed, and then

our basic stuff here.

And I'm just very excited

I think this is gonna be cool.

So, that's the cabin.

What's up again, Dog? (laughs)

Oh, he looked at me,

that was perfect.

So, my favorite part about this

is the landscaping, because if I jump

off here, I instantly can fly up

and you guys know I had trouble using

the Elytra in the Mesa, cause it

was so flat, but now we've got

these little cliffs, and those are

custom, by the way.

They weren't there in the first place

um, but what's cool is, you know

walking out the door you've got

a nice little cliff.

And when you follow

the pathway you've got a nice

little ditch, where we've got our farm.

And it gives off a very, like, good vibe

of being in the woods

and I love that, uh, but yeah.

And then we've got another cliff here

also man made, and then

this river is man made.

I'm gonna be working on that

on our livestream soon, I think

but yeah, just showing you

we've got some cool stuff.

Oh, and of course custom trees

can't forget about those (laughs)

This has all been done in survival.

It's been, I've worked on this place now

for about two hours and I think

It's looking really, really good.

So, I'm very excited to see what we can do

with the actual project, which we're gonna

start today, so let's go ahead.

And without further ado, clear up

this area so we can start laying down the

foundation and building this cabin.

(Music)

All right, we are all ready and set to go.

I've got most of the resources we're gonna

need today, so now pretty much

we just gotta fly over there.

And as you can see it's very lacking

in the tree department (laughs)

but that's just fine, because what I'm

gonna do is cut down all of the trees

that kind of surround the entire build

and build those trees instead.

Not necessarily cut them down

but just kind of edit them.

It's a pretty hard process, so you're

never really gonna see it on camera,

but I do have a tutorial for building

these trees on my channel, uh

I may link that in the description below

just depending on if I remember.

But, yeah, we're gonna pretty much

have those as well as a mixture

of these all around the build.

Uh, so I'm not really worried about

the emptiness for now. (laughs)

Uh, but, lets go ahead and kinda

clean up some of these because

we don't really need them here.

Now, today's video, or episode

in particular is gonna be very

weird in terms of building.

Uh, we're not really gonna be

doing a huge part of it, but kind of

starting a huge part of it.

It's something that I'm

kind of envisioning and it's

nowhere near even the start

of the entire build it's, it's

kind of off to the side. (laughs)

But it's really what I think is gonna make

this area look cool, uh, but we're

gonna start here, and you can

kind of see I've laid everything out,

so let's go ahead and come over here,

and just kind of set up shop.

So, every time I go building,

I always make sure to bring

a crafting table and a furnace.

The furnace is kind of

unnecessary, but, you know,

I always just kind of bring that.

I didn't bring the bed this time,

like I should have, but that's just fine.

Alright, so we're gonna start by getting

some Oak wood, and we're gonna

build a huge amount of towers,

up essentially, uh, and then we've also

gotta come out five blocks from these

edges, I believe that's five. Yep.

And place blocks there as well,

so one, two, three, four, five

and then do one there.

Now these are gonna kinda tower up

on both sides, and then it's gonna have

a waterfall in the middle.

And that's kind of the main design

and I'm gonna love it. (laughs)

You guys should too, it's gonna be

really cool, it's gonna be an interesting

landscaping project, I know that.

Okay, so uh, we need to build these up

by five, so one, two, three, four, five

and we need to do one more

and do a diagonal block across.

That's not diagonal, just uh, what is it

vertical? No, that's horizontal right?

Yeah, horizontal. And just kind of carry

that along the entire framework, here.

(Music) Ahh, we just had barely enough

or we didn't have enough, basically.

AHH, that sucks. We can just come over

here and grab these though, but I was

really hoping, uh, but we're gonna go

ahead and add these extra little arms on

each side, uh, only the front facing

ones though, because I don't want

this area to look too crowded in.

I think it would just kinda look

a little weird, uh, if we did that.

So, hmm (laughs) how are we gonna do

this now? I guess we are gonna have to use

some dirt to kinda climb up here.

And then we'll just kinda chop it down and

continue from there, but we're

gonna build up and then we're just gonna

connect those out, just like that.

So now we've got a general foundation

uh, or, I guess framework of the area

we're working with, so we're really gonna

just be working on this part of the cabin

today, and then I'm gonna try and add in

a little bit of landscaping before we end

out the episode, just so you guys can see

exactly what I'm working with here

uh, in my mind. (laughs)

But let's go ahead and grab some

necessary materials, um, actually, hmm.

We're gonna just start by building

the facade on this particular wall.

I think that'll be the easiest thing to do

so, let's go ahead and grab some dirt,

so that way we can have just the general

block to, you know, build up with

and we're just gonna build it

to about there. Now, of course

this needs to come out as well, but

we're not gonna worry about that for now.

(clears throat) So, these need to go up,

let's see, one, two three, four, five, six

and then on the second from the top block

we're gonna do that. It's gonna be very

similar to the cabin, which you can't even

see because it's blocked off, uh, so

that's kinda, ya know, the idea here.

It's gonna be very similar, so you guys

have already seen this design, um

that needs to go up one more, I bet.

Yup, okay. (laughs)

Yeah, but you guys have already seen

this design, so it's nothing necessarily

special, but once we get kinda

further into it, it's gonna be

really, really cool.

So, now we're done with that.

Let's just grab some Spruce wood

stairs and Spruce wood, and this

is kind of one of the cooler ideas

of what we're gonna do, uh, so

what I have an idea for, is to

kind of create this balcony looking

thing, uh, out of this.

Let's go ahead and get these

torches out of here.

And just get some Spruce wood slabs,

and just kinda carry them,

you know, out like this.

And then we're gonna do something

very interesting on the top here.

So let me get that dirt again.

I'm all messy already.

I think I already had the dirt, I just,

no, I don't have the dirt. (laughs)

I don't know where things are going.

Uh, but we're gonna come up here

and do something kind of interesting.

So, we're gonna use a stair there,

except it's gonna face out, which I

probably can't do, unless we do that.

And then we're gonna do the same thing

inwards, but it's gonna kind of carry

across, like that. That I'm not even

gonna try cause I know I'd have to

break it. (laughs) So just like that,

and then the rest of these will just

go up like normal blocks.

Now, the level that the floor is gonna

be on, is going to be where

those stairs are, so, it's kind of

an odd design, but, what I like about it,

and let's see if we can't kind of

get far enough to where you guys can

get a good idea here.

Let's just crash into this tree. (laughs)

So, the idea is that it just looks like

it's really, really supported and then in

the end you're gonna be able to see

under it a little bit, and I think that

will look really cool.

Um, I don't know what's going on,

I'm getting a little bit of lag.

Hopefully it doesn't get too bad though.

(laughs) I think for now we can kind of

put up with it, uh but now we've basically

gotta fill this in, and I wanna

make sure that that is correct, in terms

of size, so one, two, three, yeah

it seems like its good.

Oh no! It's already getting dark,

so let's try and quickly fill this in

at least try and get up here first.

I need to just create a stairway.

I think that would probably be

the easiest thing to do. There we go.

Alright, so what we're gonna do is just

fill it all in, and then we're gonna carve

out everything we need for the particular

uh, face, so we're gonna do that

and then just carry it up like a

stairway design, all the way up,

til we meet a point.

So, just like that.

And then crash into the water. (laughs)

So, now we've got the general facade going

now we've basically just gotta decorate it

as well as throw on the roof.

Uh, but I'm gonna go ahead and sleep,

and then we'll go ahead and

throw that roof on.

Oh man, I wonder if we're gonna

be able to land right on the block,

like we need to. (Ugh)

Oh crap, we're not. (laughs)

I'm gonna have to go up and slowly

like, fall down onto it, cause I don't

wanna have to build anything up

to get to it, but man, I love

flying around this area.

It's so freaking cool.

And, come on (ugh) we did it.

Holy crap, (laughs), that was cool.

Alright, so now we can, uh, kinda

get continuing here, so we're just gonna

do the same exact design we've been doing

for the particular roofs, uh just kind of

carrying up, you know, the square

shape, and then just doing that

up there kind of, doing the same thing

all the way across.

Now, the easiest way to do it,

is to start with the bottom blocks because

then you can easily just build on it.

That way you don't have to go under it.

And I think that just saves some time, so

we're gonna do that, and then we're gonna

put a half slab there, but I don't

have any right now.

So now, uh, I kind of want to bring it out

a little bit more, as well, just so we

have a little bit of the roof showing.

And then on my own time, I'll go

and kind of fill this all in.

The roof is gonna be the most

boring part, until we add stuff

like windows coming out and all that.

Which I honestly don't even have

planned yet, so that might be a while.

Alright, so that kind of shows that

we've got the general roof design

we just need to add the point on

which I'll do here in a little bit.

Now, we need to get to decorating.

So, we're gonna get a few items here.

The first thing we're gonna do is make

some stairs, out of the...

What am I doing? That's not (laughs)

that's not how you do it.

We're just gonna make some stairs

out of Oak wood, and then we're gonna

make some half slabs, which I also

don't have enough for. There we go.

All the way across, and Boom.

Next, we're going to get some glass,

and then grass.

And, throw these fireworks away for now.

Alright, this is gonna be very different

(laughs) and I'd like to, uh, build

just a general building platform

I think that might be the easiest thing

and then we'll kinda build a

stairway up from there, I think

that's probably gonna be the most

efficient way to do this, that way if we

do fall down, we're able to get back up.

Okay, so, we're gonna build a window here

and then a window here.

And it's gonna be the same design on

the other ones, so I'll literally just

basically copy it from there.

And then we're gonna carry a line of grass

all the way across the bottom, and we're

gonna throw these stairs and

the half slabs on the bottom.

Now, I really should have brought the, uh,

the trap doors because I did need them

uh, but we can of course just jump down

cause we prepared for that.

First thing we're gonna do is throw a trap

door right on the top of the windows.

I kind of like it because it creates like

a little seal and you can shut it

if you want, it's kind of cool.

Nope, give me that back. There we go.

And we can close these in and just

kind of place them all the way across.

We're gonna have one extra, so now

if we kind of back away here

you can kinda see here it's

getting a little decorated now,

it's getting a little bit on there. (laughs)

Now, we're gonna grab that particular

block, and then these ladders

and we're gonna kind of, uh,

dress the window up.

So, with the ladders we're just gonna

basically do, like, some shutter

designs, just by doing that.

And then on the sides here, we're

gonna add some support beams using the

uh, the gates because I think it

looks good, I think it hold it up well and

it's just an interesting design. (laughs)

Uh, so now all we really would have to add

is the side, or the little grass and

leaves there and the flowers, but

I don't have any of those on me

at the moment, so we're not

gonna do that quite yet.

But let's kind of get a design here, uh

or back up and get a view, rather

not a design. (laughs)

Yeah, so it's looking very bland

at the moment, so what we're gonna do

to fix that is kinda carve

it in with some stairs.

I'm gonna go ahead and do that

and then I'll show you the design after.

(firework whooshing)

Alright, and just add on the point

and we should be good to go.

So, let's go ahead and get our

fireworks out, and go ahead and

go ahead and prepare to get a good view.

I'm very excited to show you guys

what it should look like.

Ohh, let's go ahead and turn around

don't get a, ya know, preview glimpse

just yet, let's crash-land into this tree

and make it kind of a good reveal here.

So, I'm just gonna kinda slowly zoom

up here, and there it is.

Oh man! That looks good.

You know what, let's get a lower

shot though, I think if we, uh

come down here and not die. (laughs)

Yeah, that's looking really good.

And once we have it, you know,

really detailed and we've got a lot

of leaves kind of surrounding it

and then a stone, you know,

foundation on the bottom,

then a waterfall, I think it'll look

really, really cool.

Uh, so I'm very excited to see

how this works.

Now, you'll notice the carving

that I did kind of resembles a,

uh, non-messy carving,

it just kind of goes up there.

I kind of like that design.

I might keep it, or I might kinda change

it up throughout each windowsill.

Let me know.

I think it would look a little bit

better if it were like that on each

just cause it adds a little bit

more detail and looks like it's

meant to be there, so, yeah. (laughs)

So anyways guys, I'm gonna go ahead

and get to building on this one

and try and get things set up

so that I can show you what my

ideas are for the next one.

So, uh, I'm gonna go ahead

and get started on that

and I will see you guys

in just one moment.

(whooshing sound)

The thing I'm looking forward to most

about this build is definitely

gonna be the atmospheric views.

Like, coming down this pathway

you can start to see the cabin,

and it's gonna be a little bit bigger,

so you can see it through the trees.

And once this is terraformed, I'm

gonna lower it just a little bit, so you

can see it a little bit more.

But then you're gonna walk through here.

I, I plan on having like a cool bridge

and you can see it even more

as you go and it's just

gonna look cooler and cooler.

Obviously, (laughs) we can't

see through that.

Gonna wrap around here I think

and then have a clear view.

Now, I don't know how we're gonna

get over there, like, with the pathway.

I'm thinking of just doing it that way

uh, but one thing I did have in mind

was to take this pathway, have it

bridge out, and then have it curve.

Go through here and then, cause this is

actually a little cool, little ca..

like, cave that actually goes all the way

across, and connects to the other side.

So, we could go through here and then

obviously I would fix it a little bit more

and then have it wrap around

all the way to the entrance.

I think that could be pretty cool.

Because a cabin is supposed to

feel lost away in the woods, but anyways,

I know what you're thinking.

"This is ugly, what did you do?" (laughs)

So, let me explain what I wanna do

and I'm gonna do that by going to our

favorite place ever, the trees. (laughs)

So, the idea here, and that's gonna

look a lot better, that's just a base

template to work with, so that way

I'm not having to place, you know,

invisible blocks, essentially

or air blocks, as I like to call them

where you basically just build

landscape out of nothing.

This is gonna allow me to

carve landscape, rather, which

is a little bit easier, but, uh (coughs)

this is the idea, so this is gonna be

one entire room, and then of course

that's gonna be a room.

Now the entire cabin is gonna be

a little bit bigger than this,

this doesn't really set much

in terms of the size and skelling, but uh,

or scaling, how do I, uh I can't

even say that properly, but uh,

then this is gonna be kind of like

an outdoor bridge kind of thing

that is gonna have an overhang.

I just need to figure out the rest

of the structure, so that's gonna be

really cool, but the main thing is this

waterfall, and this is gonna look

really good once it's all properly

landscaped, but the key feature

about it, and you'll notice the dirt

over there. Let's go ahead and fly

over there, so I can show you guys

kinda my idea. So, the idea is that

we're gonna have sugarcane up there

and we're gonna have it on an

automatic farm, so that, uh,

whenever it grows observer blocks

will push it, and then cause it to fall

down on hoppers, which are gonna be here

so we'll always be collecting sugarcane.

And I think that that's gonna look

really, really cool. (coughs)

And I don't know how in the world

I'm gonna get up here. (laughs)

I guess I'll just have to fly

like I have been.

At least this time we have a little

bit of a landing pad. Whoa! Too fast!

Okay, so, we're just gonna go that way

there we go. (laughs)

And I'm gonna have glass here

eventually, but you're gonna see

the sugarcane as you're walking

along, which is gonna be really cool.

Now, this area would be pretty noisy

if it was going constantly, but it

won't be, uh, so yeah.

It's gonna be a really cool project though

I'm really excited to see how this entire

cabin turns out. (fireworks whoosh)

Uh, now I know we did not really

get too much done today, I mean, it looks

pretty basic if you ask me, uh, but

I think it's, it's definitely got potential

and I'm very excited to see where

we take this. (firework whooshing)

Let's go through here, and, just to

kind of give you guys an idea of what

I mean by carving the landscape.

If I get some stone here, and just

kind of slowly build out, like, a shape

and kind of make it look less and less

like a, just, big stone block

it kind of starts to look more like

a proper foundation from the outside.

So, if I start kinda doing stuff like that

then, kind of back away a little bit

you'll see that it, it now looks like it's

part of some stone structure.

Build that one up a little bit, uh,

and then mix in some cobblestone

and like, look like, uh. (coughs)

Let's get this stone here, (laughs)

not drop any of our items, and just

grab some of these, uh, resources here

and just kind of build, like, uh, random

locations of stairs and half-slabs.

Now, obviously we can't do it too far

because this is where the water will be

uh, but just kind of have it to where

it mixes in and looks kind of

rubble-ish then it'll end up

looking really, really cool.

So, we'll do stuff like that, and then

of course get Cobblestone blocks

mixed with Andesite and, uh, kind of

mix it all in, and it's gonna look really

cool I think, once it's done.

I keep saying that, that's (laughs)

That's like the word of the day is, really

cool, um, but I'm very, very excited

and I think you guys should be too.

We're gonna be doing a lot of

livestreams, of course, from this area

cause we've got a lot of stuff to do.

But already, just from what I just did

we'll kind of take a peak to see

how it looks, and then I'm gonna

mix it in with some, uh, Mossy Cobble

and leaves, since it is down by water.

Look at that! It already looks better.

It already looks more detailed.

It's gonna be very, very cool I think.

And I think you guys should, (coughs)

be excited, I keep saying that.

I'm sorry, but it just, yeah, it's

I've got a lot of cool ideas in my mind.

Uh, but anyways guys, that is really

gonna do it for today.

I don't really have too much else

planned, and I've gotta go pick up

my girlfriend, she's at work.

And I'm crunched for time. (laughs)
