Discovering Communication
-
0:07 - 0:15Have I told you yet how I communicated with people during this phase of my life?
-
0:15 - 0:22I learned early on, that idle social banter, the verbal caffiene that fuels most societal interaction
-
0:22 - 0:28was an activity in which I could not easily participate.
-
0:28 - 0:37Social nicieties, like jokes and juicy gossip, were swept under my mental carpet so that I could focus
-
0:37 - 0:43on conveying what I considered to be the really important thoughts in my mind.
-
0:43 - 0:47I did this using the most laborious method possible.
-
0:47 - 0:58I drew the letters of each word in the air with my finger while I [?] blink, blink, and [the listener] performed all manner of mental gyrations
-
0:58 - 1:04trying to figure out the hell what I was saying.
-
1:04 - 1:10My really really important thoughts were typed on my manual typewriter at home,
-
1:10 - 1:22carried to the place of conversation and presented to my listeners with the gravest solemnity, as if they were the 10 commandments.
-
1:22 - 1:26Needless to say, with communication methods such as these, one has few friends.
