NYU CHIBI Himanshu Grover A Framework for Large-scale Proteomic Mining 01.15.2014

  • 0:06 - 0:10
So it is a great pleasure
    to introduce Himanshu Grover.
  • Not Synced
And Himanshu Grover was here last year
    from Pittsburgh in biomedical informatics
  • Not Synced
And then he joined my lab about a year ago.
  • Not Synced
And now he's working out different methods
  • Not Synced
to utilize the large amount of
public proteomic data that is available,
  • Not Synced
But it is rather difficult to access
    and difficult to be analyzed.
  • Not Synced
So what he is working on in Frankfurt,

  • Not Synced
    where he will collect data
    and make it easily accessible,
  • Not Synced
and he will talk about that...
  • Not Synced
And the other reason why this is
    especially important to economics
  • Not Synced
is that in economics there are
quite a lot of methods unattended
  • Not Synced
to define the sequences from the raw data.
  • Not Synced
    But in proteomics, our methods
    are still improving a lot,
  • Not Synced
and a large part of the (inaudible)
    is not yet understood,
  • Not Synced
so there are modifications that we
don't know about and others kinds of things
  • Not Synced
so it is therefore very important to
have a large collection of all the data
  • Not Synced
to be able explore these things
and use it to improve methods.
