Minecraft Pokémon :: Part 1 :: The Evolution of Charmander!

OK, well,
I guess we're not gonna catch Gastly

How's it going everyone,
Welcome to a very, very special video

Today I'm showcasing
something you're going to love

This is something
I think is going to be huge

Especially if you're a fan of Pokémon

Or even just a fan of Pokémon GO

So a a buddy of mine,
Samasarus Six has introduced me

to something that
I think you guys are going to love

I, first of all, love it.

Like, I'm not a huge Pokémon fan.

But it's something that
I do connect to in some sort of way

So let's go ahead and zoom out here

and just show you
what in the world is surrounding me.

And, Im holding a Pokéball first of all

lemme just start by slowing down,
so this is a server

that is essentially a...

Pokemon game

it's just like Pixelmon

but in vanilla,
and in my opinion, a little bit better

so with the work of custom models

custom texturing,
and just custom everything

a few people have
been able to put together

the coolest project I've seen to date

so let's go ahead
and kinda get started here

I mean, this server has everything

when you start, you actually

you know, meet a professor

and get to choose a Pokemon

in this case, I chose Charmander

so if I just walk over here

and you can kinda
see down here, my inventory

I've got Charmander at level five

I can actually place him down

and then I've got a charmander

system z charmander

and, there's actually custom models

like, look at this guy, he's adorable

and look there's a Pokemon over there

which is perfect

come on and get back in the ball, friend

we can go ahead and do that

if we run over here

we can actually battle this Du-do,
or Doduo?

that's it, Doduo

which is a level six

now I don't really care too much
about this Pokemon

but we can at least battle it

so you can see now I can choose

like, a specific thing to battle with

so, I'm gonna use scratch first of all

and you can see a health bar
over on this Pokemon

so, once it uses my attack

you can see a little bit
of health went down!

now I can choose another it's just like
you know, the standard Pokemon

how it always has worked

and what I'm gonna do is
try and get its health down

just a little bit more
so let's kinda continue here

now, just like with every Pokemon game

I'm gonna spam one attack

and my Charmander's actually almost dead,
which is a good thing

because it's gonna allow me
to show you guys something

but now let's escape from that
and I'm gonna throw a Pokeball

and now, just like any Pokemon game
you'll see it kinda hopping around

and that third one is the best

Boom! And that means we just
caught that pokemon

I now have the Doduo

the Charmander's kinda put out

because his health is pretty much gone,

but I now have a new Pokemon
and I can actually run around

and place that Pokemon down

It's just like Pokemon.
Now, I was a bit skeptic at first

or, well, skeptical, at first

just because it seems
like it's such a stretch

it seems like it's going to be
really hard to replicate in Minecraft.

Minecraft only has,
it can only really go so far

there's certain limitations
that you can't get around

to be honest, they've done
a really really good job

at avoiding any complications

let me go ahead
and just deal with this

so I'm at the Pokemon Center now
we can restore our Pokemon

we have two Pokemon there,
they're being healed up

of course, I have two Pokemon,
as you guys know

and now, Charmander's
all the way back to normal

and there's Pokedexes,
there's all kinds of cool stuff

I'm gonna put these running shoes on
which allow me to run really fast

on top of that, aside from
the ability to play Pokemon

and I'm not gonna get
this Lickitongue yet

but aside from the ability to play Pokemon

the builds, like the actual server,
the scenery is on point, in my opinion

they've done a really, really nice job
at making a world that's playable

and then, of course, there's huge maps,
like look at this

(chuckle)
this is insane, if you ask me

oh, and this is one of the coolest parts

so, you might recognize this here,
this is a Pokestop, if I run up to it

I actually get more items

I didn't get much

but I might get a little more Pokeballs
if I run over here to this one

and they actually do reset
after a certain amount of time

we've got a Great Ball

which is awesome.

So, now we can literally run around
and just go catch Pokemon and battle

and you can battle other players, too

and there's levels, it's crazy

now, there are some pretty big names
who have helped fund this project

I'm pretty sure Ally-A is one of them
for example, this is a very big server

this isn't something

that's been sloshed to the side
to be created

it's something that's
definitely had a lot of time…

and effort thrown into—
oh, Cubone!

this is one of my favorite Pokemon.
Let's battle this guy.

so I'm gonna throw down Charmander

and we're just gonna battle

and I, I'm very nervous here
because I do wanna catch Cubone

this is the first time I'm seeing one

so please, Cubone, please let me win

I might actually use a Great Ball for this
which is a little crazy

but don't judge me

so let's scratch him a little more,
try and get his health down

aw, come on, just a little bit more

and don't hurt my, um, my Charmander here

that would be very mean of you, Cubone

Cubone, I'm a good owner.
You're gonna love the Pokeball

Alright, let's try it.
Oh don't hurt him with the tail whip.

no, okay, we're good

please, let me catch it

oh, come on, I think one more

oh, sweet, we just got a Cubone

that is like, seriously,
my favorite Pokemon ever

ah, I'm so happy now.
Let's see what this guy looks like

ahh, so adorable
(chuckle)

now, my buddy, Samasaurus,
he's had a major part in the role of, uh

of doing the models.
And this is something I've known about

for, uh, quite a while now

but haven't really been able to talk about

so I'm very excited
to show you guys this

and experience it,
because it's really freaking cool

and I'm not exaggerating my, uh

my response—
sorry, uh, I'm being captivated

this place looks beautiful

this is what I'm talking about
they've done a great job—

what is that?

is that a - oh, that's a seal.
Look at that

they've done a great job

at making this place feel adventurous

the fact that
that lighthouse is back there

the houses

it's just a really captivating world

and those trees look familiar

but, uh, yeah, so we really can just
get straight into it at this point

and there's gyms as well
by the way

I haven't mentioned that

now I don't think I'm strong enough
to be able to join a gym

and now I remember why I can't—

oh I thought that was a Gyarados
I saw the blue, I was like

wait a minute. Call off the commentary,
we are about to own that.

So what I'm gonna do is
run around over here to this Pokéstop

or at least I'm gonna have to
get in the water

I'm gonna try and get a little bit
more items in here

and then we're gonna try
and find a Magikarp

now the cool thing is
there is a tracker

there are some Magikarps nearby.
They're pretty far away though.

But of course they are
gonna be in the water.

But I'm pretty sure this is
the only location that has water.

Although I haven't really gone
that far to explore yet.

We're just gonna try
and find that Magikarp.

Magikarp. (chuckle)
Wait there's multiple out there too.

There he is, okay,
we might be able to catch this guy

just by throwing a simple Pokéball.

Let's give that a shot.

I don't really wanna battle this guy.

This is gonna be a stubborn guy.

I'm gonna use a great ball just
because I want a Gyarados

We can always get more great balls.

Plus, I'm just that kind of player,
I waste the good resources

I think we got it.

Yes, we got a Magikarp

Which, a lot of you might be wondering,

why would you want a Magikarp
out of any Pokémon you could get?

Gyarados is just a cool guy.

He's the kind of guy
that you wanna have lunch with.

You know what I mean?

Well, animal, I guess.

That makes no sense in any case.

Crabby. Mr. Krabs.

I don't want any business with you.

When you battle Pokémon, that's how
you grow the skill of your own Pokémon

I'm not gonna worry about catching
any more Pokémon at this point

I will, later, of course.

And we're never gonna catch a Rattata

There's no point.

Yeah, I'm just gonna really try
to find someone to battle with.

Or a Pokémon to battle with
so we can grow the skill of our Pokémon

I think we should
give Charmander another try.

I'd like to get Charizard sometime soon.

Now we just need to grind the battle.
Just get some levels going.

I'm gonna do that,
we're gonna do a few battles

Hopefully we can get an evolution.

This episode, I've never
experienced one on the server.

But I've been told it's very easy,
you just need to battle

Maybe we can also go find another player.

So that we can hopefully experience that.
I just think that would be pretty cool.

Alright, I'm a few battles in,
I'm looking at Charmander's experience

I see 76 out of 78.
I'm gonna try and record the next battle

We're gonna come down
to this Pokéstop first

since we're beside it anyways,
we might as well.

Got a little bit more potions,
which is great.

And we still have 17 Pokéballs
so we're good on that regard

I'm gonna try to find one more
Pokémon to battle with

Because I may be able to
evolve Charmander after this

since it does only require
78 apparently

Let's give this a shot,

just show you guys on camera
just in case it happens

Oh yes, we got fire, finally.
So now we can really do some damage.

I've only battled—
oh that was extremely easy.

Well that was a little too easy.

Oh, so it just levelled them up
basically, I got it.

So he's level 8 now. I'm wondering
if they matched the evolutions

with the actual evolution markers
in stamps—not stamps

the amount of experience
required for evolutions.

I've wondered if they've done that.
Because I'm pretty sure it's 15 to get…

an evolution out of a Charmander.

I imagine they've done something
close to that—what is this?

There's some Pokéballs around here.

I'm assuming there's some shops
and stuff

Because they've really gone the extra mile
to do some crazy stuff.

Okay, Clefairy, prepare to die.

Ho ho, we're gonna use fire again.

And just take them out,
because apparently, our fire's

—what? it took the other one
out like, that (snaps)

I don't understand.
Ok, whatever.

I'm not even worried about it, Clefairy,

I can keep on using fire,
we can light you up like a campfire,

and just level up for days.

You know I've gone thru so many battles,
I still haven't had to heal him again.

So Charmander, I'll definitely won't
be leaving you on a rock,

anytime soon.
(gasp)

Eevee. Oh my gosh it's Eevee.

Ok. I want Eevee. I forgot about Eevee.

That's definitely my favorite.
I take back everything about Cubone.

Eevee's my favorite—
I think Eevee's everyone's favorite

Please don't kill you.
Oh man I'm so nervous.

I wanna get Eevee here
and I do not want to kill Eevee.

I shouldn't be using fire if
I don't wanna kill Eevee

Okay. So on the next one,
after it gets done using tackle

we're gonna try and catch em

We're gonna try and Ash Ketchum.

Get it? No, ok.

Come on. No! Stop breaking out,
that's not nice of you.

You're not supposed to do that.

You're supposed to let me
throw you in your home.

I can go around and
pick that up which is cool.

You can't do that in Pokémon Go.

I'll use a Great Ball on you then.

And you're gonna use
helping hand apparently.

I wish that I could attack em once more

And we don't wanna do that.

That is the last one I'm gonna catch
unless I see something later.

At least until we clean out

the 6 that we have currently,
you can't have more than 6 on you, right?

Kinda how it works.

Take a look at these buildings,
these are crazy, man.

How far along are we?
We are level 9.

We are leveling up pretty quickly here.

I'm gonna keep on levelling up

I'm gonna see what it takes
to level up a Charmander…

by looking online. I don't know
if they did match it.

It should be the same.

But it may not be,
so we're gonna check.

I'm gonna try and get some levels
over here, and hopefully we can…

evolve him to Charmeleon.

Alright, guys, just poppin in here,

we should be able to
evolve Charmander here

in just a moment,
let's go and get this Pokéstop,

I dunno why I looked both ways.

So I've spoken with a moderator

And essentially once I
cross the threshold into level 16

on a Charmander,
he should evolve.

Now I am 443 out of 500.

The cool thing is that they did match

the experience levels
for the evolution charts…

for the game Pokémon.

All the different games,
y'know they all share the same experience

like in terms of evolving.
It's really cool that they matched that.

Hopefully after this or the next one,

we should be able to
evolve Charmander into Charmeleon.

Now the cool thing is

while we're battling here, just to
give you guys an insight on everything

All first generation Pokémon
are in this game so far.

And they're thinking of doing all of them.

Or at least adding them,
kinda how Pokémon goes then, except

(cough) a better job.
(chuckle)

There's a lot to look forward to.
I think this is gonna be…

Wow, so we are now rockin' and rollin'.
