Centro is responsible for public transport
delivery in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
We look to provide more sustainable,
innovative ways for people to travel.
In the next 20 years, the population of the West Midlands
could grow by another 400,000 people.
That's the equivalent of adding another city
the size of Liverpool or Bristol on to our area.
This growth could lead to an additional 1.2m car journeys
on our roads every weekday.
What's the implication?
More congestion, more vehicle emissions, slower car journeys.
So this challenge is seeking better ways to make use of
public data, open data, data around our park-and-ride sites
to help people make better journeys to work.
Well, we know in the current climate we need
to work differently as a public sector organisation.
An example of that is we're already working with
the Intelligent Mobility Incubator that's being constructed
in Birmingham, opening in March next year.
Centro introduced last year a high level vision
called “the new journey”
and we're looking to develop personalised,
integrated mobility solutions
to enable people to travel easier and
seamlessly across the conurbation.
We're a well established organisation in excess of 250 employees.
So we have a lot experience across the organisation
in technology, new projects, in smart delivery,
which can help drive your product forward to market.
What we don't want is a new journey planner or a new map.
It's been done before.
We want solutions that make a real difference to people's lives.
We want to see something that has a
great interface for our customers
but also enables them to get to our park-and-ride
sites easier, more efficiently.
Solutions that are able to interface with
our current products and services
such as our website and apps,
will be particularly welcome.
We don't want to be overly prescriptive.
We want people to think of ground-breaking
new ideas, outside of the box.
The potential to be monetised,
not just here, but further afield.
We've got a great team at Centro.
Use our experience, use our knowledge,
and together I'm sure we can create great things.
