[br]I have a picture and my cover letter and 0:00:55.773,0:01:01.349 resume at the bottom, and then the first [br]section was Professional Statements 0:01:01.349,0:01:07.484 and this was the most difficult section [br]for me, and it took weeks of writing 0:01:07.484,0:01:12.155 and revising and talking to my professor[br]and um, just a lot of brainstorming 0:01:12.380,0:01:14.840 to figure out what my [br]professional philosophy is. 0:01:15.041,0:01:20.179 And then the internship part and the[br]work experience was my favorite part 0:01:20.352,0:01:20.892 to write about. 0:01:21.104,0:01:26.044 Both semesters in my senior year, I had[br]um, internships through two different 0:01:26.270,0:01:30.560 pediatric occupational therapy clinics.[br]I created an internship project for a 0:01:30.594,0:01:35.298 twelve-year-old visual perception[br]client, I provided the picture 0:01:35.488,0:01:40.317 and then she asked her to adjust the [br]square so that the lines and the dots 0:01:40.509,0:01:41.855 would match the picture. 0:01:42.339,0:01:46.615 I also included my community involvement,[br]I volunteered in my church in the 0:01:46.615,0:01:51.296 Children's Ministry and I was the student [br]leader for the down syndrome Easter Egg 0:01:51.296,0:01:54.325 hunt this year, and I was on the [br]leadership team for special Olympics. 0:01:54.522,0:01:58.361 And then I was also involved with, uh,[br]food distribution in a 0:01:58.361,0:01:59.636 low income neighborhood. 0:02:00.018,0:02:04.206 And then for the body of work, I included [br]six different projects from throughout 0:02:04.399,0:02:09.915 my major classes at Point Loma.[br]One of them has a very special place 0:02:09.925,0:02:13.234 in my heart.[br]And the development of children with 0:02:13.248,0:02:17.499 special needs class, every student was[br]assigned to a disorder to research 0:02:17.507,0:02:23.537 and to create a um, parent and family [br]resource on, and the um, disorder 0:02:23.537,0:02:27.322 that I was randomly assigned to was[br]Sensory Processing Disorder. 0:02:27.553,0:02:30.636 I didn't know what that was, I[br]didn't know what kind of treatment 0:02:30.827,0:02:33.387 children would need for that,[br]and through that project I 0:02:33.836,0:02:35.705 discovered the field of occupational[br]therapy. 0:02:36.569,0:02:41.167 So, I wanted to show you this project.[br]This was my favorite to create, 0:02:41.359,0:02:44.977 it just means a lot.[br]This is where I talked about what is 0:02:45.132,0:02:48.091 Sensory Processing Disorder and it's[br]basically when a child has 0:02:48.125,0:02:52.879 difficulty um, with processing and [br]responding to sensory stimulating. 0:02:52.879,0:02:57.328 The last section, the references section,[br]I was able to get four letters of 0:02:57.328,0:02:59.487 recommendation for graduate schools. 0:02:59.487,0:03:04.674 So overall, using live text was such a [br]helpful resource and discovering my 0:03:04.674,0:03:07.900 professional voice and, even like, [br]learning more about myself 0:03:07.900,0:03:12.690 and preparing me for grad school,[br]and I plan on, um, using this as a tool 0:03:12.690,0:03:18.548 with graduate school and um,[br]submitting along with my applications 0:03:18.548,0:03:23.328 when I apply this fall.[br]So it-it just really showed who I am more 0:03:23.328,0:03:27.596 than even a paper e-portfolio[br]could show and I'm very thankful 0:03:27.602,0:03:32.981 that I have this opportunity. -chuckles-[br]Thank you. -audience applauds-
