How's it going everyone, welcome to
another episode of Starbound. As you can
see, I've done a few different things to
the area that we're working with. I don't
know what I just did. How do you--? There
we go, it's 'Ctrl', not 'C', ha. But yeah,
I've done a few different things to the
place, let me go ahead and zoom it out for
you, so we can see everything.
I added in this little storage area,
it's really temporary, but I just kinda
wanted to do it someplace to put this,
crafting, you know, situation. Then just
a general little storage area for like,
blocks and what not. Very much temporary,
I do plan on making this whole thing look
a lot better, you know. Once we kinda
progress in the game. But the farm is
doing well, as well. Check that out. Look
at all this food that we have! We have
popcorn, which I could eat. We have
pearlpeas, rice, all kinds of stuff. Like
I said - popcorn, baked potatoes, steak,
fish even, poultry, roasted carrots.
I mean we have everything right now. And
it's all growing really well. This has very useful, so far.
But anyways,
what are we doing today? We are finally,
going to, you know, play along with the
story line of the game. If we've been up
to the ship. You should see I should
probably have, I believe I have, like 40
or so core-fragments, yes, 41. I think I
actually have more in my inventory
somewhere. Yep, 24. So we are loaded
with core-fragments, and other things.
Actually, while I'm here, we may as well
go the furnace, which is up here, and go
ahead and get our, you know, bars here for
what we have. I've done a little bit of
caving, I haven't really done much since
the last episode. But you know, I've just
been playing the game a little bit, and
doing the grind. The stuff you guys don't
really want to see on camera. But yeah,
we're looking good in terms of ore, like
we're pretty set up. We might better do
some armour here soon, who knows? And
even with the matter manipulator stuff, or
the module stuff, I don't know. We're
doing it on that as well. But yeah, I
think we are probably going to be seeing
some new stuff today, cause I heard that
the story line is pretty different from
what it normally is. Let me see, yeah,
there we go, Two manipulator modules, and
yeah, I think that's pretty much all the
important stuff that I want to get out of
my inventory, before I go out and die. I
mean seriously, it's very easy to die in
this game and lose everything now. It's
really scary. Let me go ahead and craft
some of these. I guess we'll make like 10,
or so, why not. I mean I've got a good
amount already, but it couldn't hurt to
get more. If we go over here to the side,
MM upgrade thing, we can see, kinda like
what it would require to upgrade
certain things. And this allows us
to get liquid. This allows us to,
well, it basically increases the range
by two tiles.
This one increases the quickness of it,
and this one basically affects the area,
so, I'm pretty sure, yeah, it can go
up to five tiles, we can go up to 300%
faster, 6 tiles farther than we're used to,
and, y'know, be able to get all kinds of
stuff. This is wire mode. So there's--
there's plenty of stuff that we want to be
able to unlock. I think for now
the first thing we're really going to
go for is power, or maybe even
the three tiles, I don't know yet.
But I know that what we're about to do
should, y'know, produce a good amount
of modules. [Laughs] But, basically
we're gonna grab some of these
core fragments. I think we need, like
maybe twenty...? So let's just grab that
first, and let's go over to our quests,
and continue tracking. So it says
"Use the core fragments
to activate the gate." I kinda wanna
bring a little bit more just in case,
so let's bring like, 15 more...? I don't
really know what it requires, but
hopefully it's not, y'know, too much.
But yeah, while I was, y'know, away
over the past week, I did a Starbound
tutorial video for the house featured
in this Let's Play, so go check that out
if you're interested. I did mention it
last episode, so you guys probably
already know about it, but just in case
you missed it--There we go--[inaudible]
--Yeah, ok cool. But anways, I'm gonna
walk over to the ancient gate real quick
and I will see you guys in just a moment.
All right, it looks like this is it.
It's got a little blue arrow now, if we
activate it, it requires 20. Let's go ahead
and activate it. "You appear to have
successfully activated the gate
and it seems another message is
coming through." Hmm. This is
a little familiar, a little different
though: "Please come, I urgently
require help, the universe depends
on it. Use the ancient gateway and
meet me in the ark ruins just past the
outpost." Alright, so I guess let's just
see where this takes us. It's already a
little bit different than what it was.
What I remember is it being its own little
planet and if I'm correct, the area that
we're trying to go is this way.
Yes! There it is! There's the outpost!
I'm so happy to finally be able to access
this because with the outpost you can, like
seriously get--where are the pixels at?
Whatever. [Laughs] You can get pretty
much anything you need and it's so nice.
But I do need to figure out how many
pixels we have, I don't know where
to see that information, 'cause up here
it's not there anymore. I don't know.
It's probably somewhere.[Laughs] I'll be--
yeah, the outpost, we've been here before,
definitely, not in this Let's Play though.
No! What's wrong with Terra Mart? It's
broken down, that so sad! Ok, you've
got stuff to say, don't you? And I don't
think there's ever really anything, y'know,
in these cases. There might be in some.
No, it looks like they're all pretty
empty. But we're going to one--why are
you following me? [Laughs] We're going
to one location--she's gonna jump! She's
very interested in me. This is a little
weird.[Laughs] I'm able to outrun her,
though, so we're all good. Man, she's even
coming over here--ok--maybe I should see:
"Enjoys travel, wants to see whole universe."
Ok, yeah, that's great! Y'know, I mean,
you might want some friends, I get it, but
I'm a little busy at the moment. [Laughs]
I think this is where we're wanting to
go, it did say right past the outpost, and
maybe not? I can't teleport other than
to the ship. Maybe it's even further past
that? Yeah, still following, aren't
ya? Can I--naw, I'm not gonna [Laughs].
Ok so this definitely looks different,
it's--oh, they ran away, something's not
good here. [Laughs] That's really not good,
they were like, NOPE!
[Sings: Hell-naaaw]
That's basically what they just did.
And uh, alright, here we go.
"Hello dear! Is that a Matter Manipulator
you're carrying? Excellent, so you're a
protector. I'm sorry to say, perhaps the
last, after the...The terrible destruction
of Earth...It's sadly inevitable that we
should meet now...
My name is Esther Bright, retired
Grand Protector.
I left some years ago, an impossible
decision; but my research could not be
neglected.
I discovered things long forgotten that
weigh heavy on the present."
[Goofy voice: Stoory time!]
[Deep voice] LONG AGO [Laughs]
[Feminine voice] "Long ago, there was a
force known as the cultivator, it maintained
balance in the universe.
Under its influence, harmony reigned.
So it was for aeons. But this tranquility
proved finite. A being arose, one of hate
and destruction. It was the Ruin."
This lady's got a deep voice.
"The ruin could not abide life in any form,
and reaped destruction upon the universe.
It fought to blot out all life, and would
have succeeded, but for the sacrifice
of the Cultivator.
The Cultivator rose against the Ruin, and
succeeded in sealing it away.
But in doing so, the Cultivator exhausted
its power completely. Before its last
energies dissipated, the Cultivator
gifted six chosen races with precious
artifacts.
These six artifacts, when united, form the
key that opens the gate to the Ruin.
The defenses are crumbling. We must unite
the artifacts, reach the Ruin, and truly
destroy it.
This is a lot to take in dear, and a huge
request to make of you...But I would like
your help.
The artifacts are scattered across the
stars, I can't find them alone.
We must find them and eradicate the Ruin,
before other planets go the way of
the Earth."
Ah, ok. So, we've learned a few different
things there. One, System Z is terrible
at reading [Laughs].
Two, [laughs], I don't know why I'm
holding three fingers up right now instead
of two.[Laughs].
