Post rock is...

Post is mean later.. after the original rock genre

So post rock is to make music by using rock instrument

but not intend to be rock music..

But talk about "Rock" music first

rock is fundamental of playing music

drum, bass, guitar and vocal

but post rock change that basic.. into non-rock music

Post-rock is happen about 10 years ago

long time

around 90'.. I dont know who is first person call it "Post-rock"

but the first band that I heard they are post rock is "Tortoise" from Chicago

and Jim O'Rourke .. he use to be in band "Sonic Youth" as guitarist..

early post-rock is sound much into Jazz music.. got brass instumental..

also "Mogwai" and "Explosions in the sky"

90' is a time of modern rock and alternative

the world's mainstream that time..

Post-rock are happen since then.

most of the band that time.. already start some music experiment

they always got some experimental track, at least one

such as 8-10 minutes long track... with no lyrics

at 60'-70' there are cross rock

or some jazz band that make experimental music

in the way that they like

for cross rock, they use other sound such as ambient

its kind of art music

post-rock may got some influence by that also

Post-rock sound is not just a basic rock

it got more texture and technique

and you can't sing along

you may think your radio is broken

becouse its noisy sometimes

Why no vocal ?

post rock is unstable and sensitive

experimental music

not easy to put the right lyrics into it and it can be narrow the meaning of song..

Post-rock may express it's emotion

through the music not the lyrics

if got lyrics, its may lead audient by words

but without lyics

audience got space for their own imagination

for what they really feel

some of post-rock got lyrics

and it great also

but if it all in singing, this can be narrow the meaning of post-rock music..

Post rock in Thailand, we got many die-hard group

such as "Finalkid" group

they got band like "Forgot your case"

and "Inspirative"

SO::ON dry flower group

Koichi was in this group..

in my label there was a band like"Goose"

Goose is kind of famous

but not many track that can play on radio

In Thailand.. post-rock is very inch..

not many audience i guess

only serious music listener will discover them

compare with neighbor .. Post-rock audience in Thailand is very little

because its not play much on radio

and its very independent

real indepentdent.. salf made, share to friends

and listen in their group

its hard to get promotion by mass media

such as radio or magazine, no one talk about them

but when they got hook up, it can be chance for all

its not easy listening music

high degree of experimental stuff

but if put it and listen.. we may learn somethings new

post-rock have no standard

but now people have image in their mind

about how post-rock could be

actually.. it's not
