And things like that. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Favorite colors? I don't even know what I put in there. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry? What favorite flavor? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So yeah, you kind of create your own profile! 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And it will tell you like how much of that is done, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and it's really exciting! So, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 if you haven't hopped on my website - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 KatiMorton.com - you can check it out. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I have opened up the forums. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I am not looking through all of it 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and approving the forums, because 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I want you to have the support 24/7. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I am not awake 24/7, 'cause then I'd be like a zombie. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, I've opened it up. However, the same rules 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 still apply. And I will check the forums very frequently 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 But if you find any triggering information, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 let somebody know. Just say 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "Hey, we don't use numbers on here", or 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "Hey, you know we don't talk like that on this website" 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 blah, blah, blah, or if you want to leave it up to me, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 you can let me know. And I will be happy 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to message them and let them know 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the rules of the website, because I want to keep it 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a safe and supportive environment like it's been 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and no way will this ever become a pro- 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 unhealthy behavior website, okay? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So even thought I've opened it up, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the same rules apply. So don't, you know, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 don't break the rules, okay? And, let me see 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 if there is anything else. So yeah, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I think that's really it. Give me your feedback, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 let me know if somethings not quite working, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 or if you like the way that this is, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 or, you know I'm always looking for feedback 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 because I'm just getting into this website 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 in the back end, and trying different things out. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, I'm always welcoming the feedback. Okay? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And, on to Tumblr-land. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Oh, and I got my nails painted today, you see? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I was real excited - I was like - I love purple. Yay! 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, okay - and before I forget actually - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 on the website, you can still blog. I know many of you 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 have been like, "Katie, where'd the blog option go?" 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And in the forums, you'll find my explaination 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 for how you can still blog. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So if you still want to do that, there's a forum about it 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 so you can read. And if you have any 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 questions about it, or sturuggles, you can 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 hit me up on Twitter, okay? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Now the questions, the first question is, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "What's the difference between a setback, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and a relapse?". 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Now, I'm assuming this would differ 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 from person to person, because it's really just 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a definition thing. But a setback would be like 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "Ugh, it was my birthday, and I had two parties to go 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to. So I felt like I binged, and then I purged... 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 so I'm feeling really guilty". 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 But then we get back up the next day, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and we get back on track. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 That would be like a setback or a slip-up, or 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 how ever many kinds of words we could use 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to describe that, right? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And then a relapse would be, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 when we go back to the way it used to be. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Like, which we all have felt this - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 if you look up the definition - I think it says something 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 like back-sliding, or getting back - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 they talk about it medically, so when the symptoms 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 come back full-force, and I think that applies for 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 eating disorders, self-harm, depression, anxiety, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 if we go back to the way it was, before we got help. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, if we are binging and pruging X-amount of times a day again, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 or we are exercising X-amount, or we're 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 sitting in bed all day, and not getting out. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Or, we're finding ourselves overly anxious in public, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 so we're not meeting up with our friends... etc. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Does that make sense? So it's kind of all going back. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And then, then the next part - so that was one 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 persons question on Tumblr. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And the next question was 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "how do we get through a relapse?" 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So that was another one, but I decided to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 mush it together. And, just like what I said 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a relapse is going back to the way it use to be. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 We have to go back to when we first started 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to recover, and use those same tools. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Because all the work we have done - [apologizes] - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 all the work we have done, is a loss. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 It's not lost - it's still there - we just have to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 get back on track, use our tools, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 maybe start on my workbook again 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 task one - which I know you all hate - but, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 get back on there, okay? And start doing that again 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 because the same things that helped us before 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 can help us now. And I know it's annoying, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and we're like, "I've already done it". It's like 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 kindergarten or something, and we're like, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "We've already learned this", but we have to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 go back, okay? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Question number two. This person 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 - I'm not going to share anybody's name 'cause 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 on Tumblr it's usually anonymous, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 or they really want to to keep their privacy, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 but this persons therapist was wanting them 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to give up their scale, and to give it to a friend. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 They are feeling really anxious about it obviously, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 because a lot of us folks on the numbers and weight, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and all this calorie in and out, and - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Right? Our eating disorder loves that stuff. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And, she's feeling really anxious, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 so she wondered about my thoughts on that. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I think giving it to a friend is a great idea 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a lot of times I'll take it from my client for a week, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and give it back. Or give them the option 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to take it back. So, I think that it's a great idea. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I know that it's really anxiety provoking and, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I would encourage you to journal about it a little bit 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and see why you're feeling so anxious, and 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 what does it mean to not be weighed? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 What are you afraid is going to happen? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I can pretty much guess what it is, but sometimes 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 it helps for us to write it out, and then to say, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "Well, what if we can get it back any time?" 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Like, what it you gave it to your therapist, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and they just said "let me know if you want it back, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and I'll put it in a bag in the waiting room, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and you can come get it.", then how would it feel? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And maybe you should, before giving it to a friend, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 maybe we should just try not weighing ourselves 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 for one day, or one afternoon. It depends on 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 how often you weight yourself, and we'll start 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 weaning off, you know? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, those are my thoughts on that. Your therapist 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 is doing a great job, 'cause that's something I 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 always encourage, you know, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 some kind of version of that, okay? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Number three, someone wanted to know the process 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 of getting a diagnosis. Now, this probably differs 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 from Therapist to Therapist, but I'll just tell you mine. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I'm going to see you the first time, and I'm going to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 ask you a lot of questions - about your history, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and where you've been before, and if there is 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 another Therapist I should talk to, and, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I'd get you to sign a release if that's the case. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I'd ask you about medical conditions, and things 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 you struggled with physically that you had to go to 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the hospital for. I'd ask about medications, and 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the list goes on, and on, and on. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And through the course of spending time with you 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and having other sessions, I'll ask you about 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 your behaviors, like how many times 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 do you feel depressed? Or how many times do you 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 binge and purge? Or how many times do you 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 cut yourself in a day, or week, or month? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I'll just start asking questions about that. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And, I probably see my clients four times - I'm just 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 giving you a rough estimate - unless there's some 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 reason we have to make a diagnosis quicker, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I usually see them for about a month, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 before I feel confident enough to give them 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a diagnosis. And then, I usually will jot in my notes 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 what I'm ruling out. Like, to rule out major depressive 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 disorder, or bulimia, or binging disorder 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 - whatever it is I'm looking at - 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 borderline personality disorder. And then I'll start 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 weeding them out, so that it doesn't quite meet 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 criteria for this, it's more apt to meet that. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And so that's how I do it. So think of it 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 as a funnel - I'm taking all of this information 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 and I'm getting it down to what I think is actually 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 the struggle and the issue. But in the meantime, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 I'm also creating a treatment plan based on 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 all those possibilities, so I like doing that 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 because it gives a more well rounded treatment plan, 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 so it's not just one thing that we're focusing on 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 - even if it is one diagnosis, we have 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 a lot of stuff going on, you know? 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 So, that's just a little snippet about how that works. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 Okay, on to number four. 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 "What do you do, if someone threatens 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 to kill themselves, if you tell their parents?" 9:59:59.000,9:59:59.000 And I know that this comes from someone on Twitter,
