Welcome to Windows weekly this is your
weekly installment of all things Microsoft
We are all friends here, we all talk about
Microsoft
No one makes fun of anyone
Lea Leport is out this week, I am
Megan Morrone filling in and
Megan sorry to interrupt, but I feel
like you don't understand the purpose
of this show, because actually
Laughing
I was trying to start on a postive note
but Paul, Paul Therote from therote.com
the man who can make fun of anything
and Mary Jo Folley also
not stragely configured despite the fact
that she cannot fit a laptop on her lap
we will talk about that later
Thank you so much for coming here and
sharing your positive and negative
views of Windows this week.
Paul: Wow
Laughing
Mary: You have a lot to live up to after
that.
Megan: Yeah you do, you do.
Well lets start with the fun stuff first
the Xbox One X
I am still calling it project Scorpio
because that is a much better name
but we are told to call it Xbox One X
I think this is your beat Paul, although I
would love to know what Mary JO
feels about the Xbox One X.
Paul: She pipped in in the notes I noticed.
Mary: Its funny, yesterday I said to Paul
on messaging
So I don't sound idiotic on Windows Weekly
how do you say Xbox One with the X
Is it Xbox one ten or is it Xbox One X?
Paul: Oh boy
Mary: and the reason I ask is I am one
of those people.
Paul: I couldn't find the appropriate face
palm GIF to send to her
Mary: No, you know what I am one of those
people who could never train myself
because I don't talk about it often.
To call Apple's operating system OS ten
I always call it OSX.
Paul: Right, a lot of people did do that.
Mary: And I still do, thats why I was
curious about that.
Paul: Well now they leave it off so you
can just not call it anything.
Mary: I know, now it doesn't matter.
Yeah, so here is my summary of the
announcement
and this is all I'll say in this segment.
Paul: Oh come on, well I mean aside from
where you would buy it.
Mary: TLDR you want to know about
Xbox One X
want to know about Xbox One X?
It's another black gaming console
costs $500 ships November 7th
there we go, you're done.
Paul: I have a slightly more nuanced
view of it than that.
Mary: Do you?
Do you? Surprising.
Megan: It's future look, its forward
looking. Right Paul?
Paul: yeah, I mean you know
There is a big change going on in
the video game world.
Actually there is a bunch of big changes.
So consoles are being revved midstream
which never happened before
Right? So you have this roughly
eight year product life cycle.
In the past that eight years was one
console, no changes.
You know except for maybe some cosmetic
and cost reducing type of things.
but the specs basically were always
the same
Microsoft and Sony this time
are revving their consoles midstream
and there are some huge advantages to that
Including backwards compatibility
without having to go through emulation
and then you can address new capabilities
in this case like, 4k UHD, HDR.
you know things like that.
Microsoft is kind of taking
that to a different level as well
because they have expanded the notion
of what Xbox is
to include Windows 10 PCs
and while its not 100% compatible across
the board it never will be.
We already have a bunch of things that
are common between the two platforms.
You can play some of the same games
through Xbox Play anywhere.
