Why Doing Business With Savoir-faire Linux and Liferay Portal? Walter Surface Technologies is a Montreal company that has been in business for over 50 years. We work in the field of metal working and cutting tools and we are represented, of course, in several countries — Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil and also in Europe; we have quite a strong partnership in Europe. So Walter Canada, it is a little more than 120 or 130 people in Canada. We have offices in Monterey and Guadalajara, Mexico, and in Brazil, we are based in Sao Paulo. So we have to deal with French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and German languages. We already had an intranet which was a little more than 10 years old. We were facing a platform change as the platform that we had was no longer supported by the manufacturer. After market research, we realized that the one that best fit our needs was Liferay. Main strengths were that Liferay managed multi-language as we wished and, secondly, we also wanted a platform allowing to generate content easily and that users would feel comfortable with very quickly. We also needed a platform with a real search engine — and again, Liferay addressed the need. Other features of Liferay that we will not use right away in the new website, but that we will use later include, in particular, blogs, wikis, social media integration, document management — all these are parameters that got our attention. The other thing that seemed interesting and is a new experience for us, is that we somewhat entered the world of Open Source with Liferay and we realized once the project was completed that it is very interesting. We had the opportunity to meet Savoir-faire Linux at a Liferay presentation in Montreal. Following this presentation, I had a Savoir-faire Linux business card and when the intranet project came along and got to be started, I contacted you to see how you could help us with this project. Following the presentation that was made of your company and your expertise at this level we felt the confidence we needed and I can say we do not regret it because the project went well. We liked the rigor with which the project was driven on your end and, in addition, the project was delivered on time which is also very valuable. So for us, it was an overall positive experience doing business with Savoir-faire Linux and the Liferay platform.
