Hi I'm Kevin, the Product Manager for the Twitter website and I'm here to walk you through the new Twitter.com
We've re-engineered and re-designed the site to be faster, easier to use, and richer and we did so by looking
at all the different way you're already using Twitter and enhancing that experience
So starting from the top bar you can see that we made it easy to access all the places that you typically do
including the global search bar so you can search Tweets and people from anywhere. We also made it easy to get
to all the places that you care about. Like your mentions, reTweets, saved searches in these easy to access tabs
all without refreshing the page.
Although we reworked every part of the site, we've also paid attention to keeping Twitter simplicity.
You'll notice that it still looks and feels like Twitter, and acts like Twitter. So you can read your Tweets like you normally
would but it's faster and you don't have to click more to see all the Tweets.
Tweets are 140 characters or less, but there's a lot more richness under that.
Looking at this Tweet we can see the photo and mentions, more information about who's mentioned in the Tweet
and other relevant Tweets tagged with the same hashtag, and I can dive deeper into any of these Tweets to see
more. This richness is there when you need it, but doesn't get in the way when you don't.
Now let's do a search. When we were announcing the new Twitter there was a lot of speculation going on.
So let's search for 'Twitter Predictions'
We can see that the Blog "Read Write Web" asks people what their predictions were for the announcement
Before it would've been really difficult to find out what people responded. Now we can get more context around
a Tweet by selecting it and seeing the replies on the right.
And this area can be used not just for Tweets, so let's saying I want to find out more about who nwwMike is
I can see that he's a writer for the Blog. If I want to find out more, I can simply click on him and see more information
his location, stats and even some of his recent Tweets to get an idea of what it would be like to follow him
And when I do follow him, I get more suggestions for similar people I could also follow.
Let's find out more about Mike by checking out who he follows. Here's Mike's profile page. We've re-designed this
as well. We saw how people were using their Twitter profiles as part of their identity and put more emphasis on avatar
and information. Lists of people are now laid out better and easier to scroll, and of course you can still Tweet,
but you can do it from anywhere on the site.
But finally you can do any of these things without using a mouse! With our extensive keyboard short cuts.
So that's the new Twitter.com which we'll be rolling out to everyone over the course of a few weeks.
So stay tuned.
