Click Your Fortune #3: Changes in the workplace - Deena Gornick

  • 0:05 - 0:08
    I'm really sad to say
  • 0:08 - 0:09
that in some ways I think
  • 0:09 - 0:14
the world has become a little harder
  • 0:14 - 0:15
    and has become faster.
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    The changes in the world,
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    like all challenges,
  • 0:19 - 0:23
have forced us to become more creative,
  • 0:23 - 0:28
    have given us no alternative
  • 0:28 - 0:30
    but to become braver,
  • 0:30 - 0:33
so more articulate about our feelings,
  • 0:33 - 0:36
    have made things like assertiveness
  • 0:36 - 0:40
    absolutely obligatory,
  • 0:40 - 0:44
calling out what you want absolutely a must,
  • 0:44 - 0:47
    and really making sure
  • 0:47 - 0:51
that you in some way make your talents known
  • 0:51 - 0:54
because those days of kind of people going out
  • 0:54 - 0:56
    and hunting for talent,
  • 0:56 - 0:58
yes, I'm sure on some level that still happens,
  • 0:58 - 1:03
but it's hard, you really got to hold up a big sign
  • 1:03 - 1:06
and say, "I am really good at what I do,
  • 1:06 - 1:08
and I'm really, really rather wonderful.
  • 1:08 - 1:08
    You should look at me
  • 1:08 - 1:13
because I'll be great for your team."
  • 1:13 - 1:15
That is, I think, in a nutshell,
  • 1:15 - 1:17
    how the world has changed.
  • 1:17 - 1:19
