Click Your Fortune #3: Changes in the workplace - Deena Gornick
-
0:05 - 0:08I'm really sad to say
-
0:08 - 0:09that in some ways I think
-
0:09 - 0:14the world has become a little harder
-
0:14 - 0:15and has become faster.
-
0:15 - 0:17The changes in the world,
-
0:17 - 0:19like all challenges,
-
0:19 - 0:23have forced us to become more creative,
-
0:23 - 0:28have given us no alternative
-
0:28 - 0:30but to become braver,
-
0:30 - 0:33so more articulate about our feelings,
-
0:33 - 0:36have made things like assertiveness
-
0:36 - 0:40absolutely obligatory,
-
0:40 - 0:44calling out what you want absolutely a must,
-
0:44 - 0:47and really making sure
-
0:47 - 0:51that you in some way make your talents known
-
0:51 - 0:54because those days of kind of people going out
-
0:54 - 0:56and hunting for talent,
-
0:56 - 0:58yes, I'm sure on some level that still happens,
-
0:58 - 1:03but it's hard, you really got to hold up a big sign
-
1:03 - 1:06and say, "I am really good at what I do,
-
1:06 - 1:08and I'm really, really rather wonderful.
-
1:08 - 1:08You should look at me
-
1:08 - 1:13because I'll be great for your team."
-
1:13 - 1:15That is, I think, in a nutshell,
-
1:15 - 1:17how the world has changed.
