Click Your Fortune #3: Imagined careers - Daniel Suarez

  • 0:05 - 0:08
Ah, thankfully novelist was my number one,
  • 0:08 - 0:11
    took a while though.
  • 0:11 - 0:14
Again, I worked for a couple decades nearly,
  • 0:14 - 0:17
and at some point it really wasn't my goal
  • 0:17 - 0:18
    to become a novelist anymore.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
I loved my work at the time developing software
  • 0:21 - 0:23
and then I went back to it.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
So, I think the thing I'd say to people is
  • 0:25 - 0:27
sometimes it's a very circuitous path.
  • 0:27 - 0:29
I mean, I wouldn't change it in hindsight
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    how it happened.
  • 0:30 - 0:33
I mean, I finally got to my dream profession,
  • 0:33 - 0:35
but the journey was enjoyable too,
  • 0:35 - 0:38
and that's what I would say.
  • 0:38 - 0:41
    It was definitely novelist,
  • 0:41 - 0:42
    I think really only that.
  • 0:43 - 0:45
