"The Inconvenient Truth for Culture" | Dannie-Lu Carr | TEDxNewcastle

Title:
"The Inconvenient Truth for Culture" | Dannie-Lu Carr | TEDxNewcastle
Description:

In this TEDx talk, Dannie-Lu Carr will outline how if we don’t start to reorientate our approaches, attitudes and value systems around our Craft, Culture and Creativity we will start to pass a point of no return.

Without this reorientation we will simply build on the ‘fast’ trends we’re already seeing which will lead to a lack of transcendent movements, figures, works and increasingly move us towards a hypercycled landscape, where a state of listlessness and ennui will inevitably infect everyone involved in any aspect of cultural practice. This state she calls ‘Crestfallen’.

Sharing from practitioners across the creative spectrum and using some of her own stories, Dannie will start to describe how the subtlest of Reorientations can counter this trend and pull us back towards a different rhythm… and ultimately a different outcome.

Dannie-Lu Carr is an Acting & Business Performance Coach, Writer, Artistic Director and Actor. She has worked in her multi-disciplined career for 19 years. Her book, Brilliant Assertiveness, was published in 2012 and her film, Things To Remember, is due for public release in 2015.

Having been engaged by many forms of specialisms, working with practitioners across the whole artistic spectrum, Dannie firmly believes we need a reorientation for the way we understand, nurture and engage with Craft, Culture and Creativity. A move away from ‘Hypercycling’, and a firm refocussing onto the private process and internal driven journeys is crucial.
