Mitt Romney on Saturday morning formally announced he has chosen Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., as his vice presidential running mate. Calling themselves "America's Comeback Team," the duo promised voters in the battleground state of Virginia they would put the nation back on track if they win on Nov. 6.

Romney had the Norfolk crowd in stitches by accidentally announcing Ryan as the next "president" of the United States. He corrected himself a few minutes later.

I started the "English, British" subtitles because I wanted to try synching the transcript of Paul Ryan's speech Joshua gave us the http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2012/08/excerpts-from-rep-paul-ryans-speech-joining-romney-ticket.html link for. --- But I didn't want to mess up the "English" subs if I goofed. --- Actually, it worked. Next comment for explanations on how to continue.

I am sure it is my lack of expertise with the subtitling platform but I had a rather hard time trying to work in the missing subtitles by clicking the plus sign to insert text before Ryan's speech. I just redid it all in English.

Hi Sabine and Joshua--- Wow, this has been an impressive distance collaboration!--- Sabine, you may not be completely familiar with the Amara platform yet, but you are an impressive subtitler. ---- And actually, making a "buffer subtitle" and clicking its + sign to retroactively subtitle, directly in the sync'ing phase, is not the standard use of Amara: it's just a trick we've found with a friend when we were subtitling another long video, to be able to each subtitle different chunks.--- And it's a rather heretic trick at that (the standard is first transcribing then sync'ing, as you did), even if it's handy. --- But I should have explained it more at length. Problem: these comments aren't the easiest medium for explaining things at length, between the impossibility to create line breaks and the software duplicating or even triplicating them...--- I do hope you were able to at least re-use the texts Joshua and I had produced? --- Best,--- Claude

For Spanish translators: please note the following regarding amounts. Million americano = 10^6 = millón español Billón americano = 10^9 = mil millones españoles Trillón americano = 10^12 = billón español Million trillon = 10^18 = trillón español Por lo tanto 1.4 million trillion dolars sería 1.4 trillones de dólares. "1 Billón" se refiere a la cantidad de "un millón de millones", pero en los EEUU cuando lees o escuchas en Inglés "1 Billion", en realidad se refieren a "mil millones", que como pueden ver es una diferencia de 3 órdenes de magnitud. Noten que siguiendo la misma regla, "1 Billón" en español es "1 Trillion" en Inglés.
