Click Your Fortune #2: Resume tip - Sandra Aamodt
-
0:04 - 0:07So, when we first started hiring people,
-
0:07 - 0:08I had the idea
-
0:08 - 0:11that really the only important thing
-
0:11 - 0:15was that I get the smartest person
-
0:15 - 0:17to hire for the job,
-
0:17 - 0:21and that actually turned out to be wrong
-
0:21 - 0:24because in practice
-
0:24 - 0:25it matters so much
-
0:25 - 0:27whether the person that you hire
-
0:27 - 0:29fits in well with the team,
-
0:29 - 0:33knows how to work with other people.
-
0:33 - 0:38You can get people who are really brilliant
-
0:38 - 0:41but still manage to pull down the performance
-
0:41 - 0:44of everyone else around them,
-
0:44 - 0:46and so I gradually started looking
-
0:46 - 0:52more and more toward social skills and initiative
-
0:52 - 0:55and these kinds of soft skills
-
0:55 - 0:57that didn't seem as important in the beginning
-
0:57 - 0:59but actually turn out to make a huge difference
-
0:59 - 1:02in how people perform on the job.
